How To Season A NEW Cast Iron Skillet | Black Tie Kitchen

Показать описание
A well seasoned cast iron skillet is a thing of beauty. It's black like coffee and nothing sticks to it. However, when you first purchase a pan, it doesn't start like that. You need to add a few layers of seasoning before it's ready for use. That's what Dennis shows you how to do in this video - apply the first layers of seasoning to get you on your way!

Follow me on:

DIRECTIONS
1. Place aluminum foil on the bottom of the oven and preheat the oven to 200°F / 93°C.
2. Wash your skillet with soap and water and dry well.
3. Place into the oven for 20 minutes.
4. Remove from oven and coat it in a very thin layer of oil (flax seed, canola, Crisco, lard, etc).
5. Preheat the oven to 450°F / 232°C.
7. Place the pan face down into the oven for an hour.
8. After the hour is up, turn off the oven and let pan cool with the oven.
9. Repeat steps 6-8 until your desired seasoning level!

I'm so happy this video wasn't 15 minutes long with an intro of just stating that you have cast iron skillets thank you for getting to the point and I love your editing

Love it! My first cast iron skillet just arrived and I wanted to learn how to season it and cook with it... Thanks for the fun and informative video. As I watched, it really put things into perspective. Don't make it too complicated, just take care of it, cook with it and enjoy!

Far out! I didn't know you had so many different types of videos.👍 I was searching on the YouTube-verse for a vid on proper storage of cast iron cookware and this one ☝was in my feed. I've been cleaning out my cookware cabinets and decided to clean and season all my cast iron. I'm not a hoarder, but I counted out 10 different pieces ranging from an aebleskiver pan to a 14 in pan with double-loop handles. It's taking me three days to do the task, and do it right. Fark! 😜Alas, they look really pretty now. 😄Thank you for the video and instructional information. As always, spending time watching you do your 'kitchen wizardry' Black Tie-style has been loads of fun, and made me laugh A LOT. 🤩Take care and be safe! 😊💖🙏
