How To Season A NEW Cast Iron Skillet | Black Tie Kitchen
Показать описание
A well seasoned cast iron skillet is a thing of beauty. It's black like coffee and nothing sticks to it. However, when you first purchase a pan, it doesn't start like that. You need to add a few layers of seasoning before it's ready for use. That's what Dennis shows you how to do in this video - apply the first layers of seasoning to get you on your way!
Follow me on:
DIRECTIONS
1. Place aluminum foil on the bottom of the oven and preheat the oven to 200°F / 93°C.
2. Wash your skillet with soap and water and dry well.
3. Place into the oven for 20 minutes.
4. Remove from oven and coat it in a very thin layer of oil (flax seed, canola, Crisco, lard, etc).
5. Preheat the oven to 450°F / 232°C.
7. Place the pan face down into the oven for an hour.
8. After the hour is up, turn off the oven and let pan cool with the oven.
9. Repeat steps 6-8 until your desired seasoning level!
