I use the best scraper of all- my fingernails!
They don’t scratch the iron, and they clean up in a jiffy.
Try it!

Please note how shiny his pan is. When most of us are new to cast iron, we get a pan that is coarse. There is absolutely nothing wrong with cleaning and smoothing your cast iron. If people can restore a rust bucket pot or skillet to good cooking order, you can scrub and smooth that rough surface! Just do your iron right and season it again.

Agreed. Inherited Mama's set to add to mine. I didn't have any Wagner pieces however Mama did. Gr8 gift, takes a bit 2 heat up but will stay warmer longer...

I've been using mild dish soap and a sponge lately after not using it my whole life I learned that the reason people say don't use soap is because soap used to contain lye and that would destroy the seasoning immediately I would suggest trying the soap method

After the pan has cooled off a little, where I can touch the bottom, I put hot water in it, let it sit about 10-15 minutes and then rinse off in hot water and wipe dry.
Works great onWagnerware cast iron- as well as Lodge

Use dish soap and water. The seasoning (polymerised oil into the pan) won't get removed from some messily soap. It's an old wives tales when soap and lye in it, which did strip pans as it was extremely basic.

I've heard about using the salt and it works great.😊 I've never heard about using a potato I'll have to give that a try.

It needs to be baked after every use or just oiled
