DISCLAIMER (Of course, I'd have one 😁)
Hey, you might think that this info makes me your lawyer, but it doesn’t and I’m not. Sorry, but I AM NOT YOUR LAWYER unless we have an engagement agreement. I am just providing public information here, like a library does, and am not providing you with legal advice about your situation. So, it would be totally unreasonable for you to conclude we have an attorney-client relationship just because you're viewing this information.

several years ago I used that when a dept collector suddenly started calling out of the blue about an old Sears Credit Card Dept from all the way back in the early 2000's. I state is 6 years.
They called several times and each time I reminded them that the statute of limitation has passed and also explained that if they kept calling, I'd get a lawyer involved. Finally stopped hearing from them.

Watching this older video in comparison to his new unhinged ones is life changing

extra tip: don't try this in other countries, some countries reset the limitations if you acknowledge the debit

“Let’s not ‘blow’ this out of proportion”
“You think you can steal from us and get away with it?!?”
“Yeah”

They also like to pull up old debts from 12 years ago and report them to the credit bureaus as recent accounts.

Never admit to a debt. Make them prove it.

I guess at this point Mike is an international wanted person...not because he did something bad but because he's helping others

The smarter thing is to never confirm your identity or the acknowledge the existence of a debt by phone. When they ask for you, first say "Who is this?" and if they say anything about debt just say "Sorry wrong number" and hang up.

In fact, not only can you, you should report them to the FTC and any local trade commissions.

If only filing for harassment would stop the seven calls from Indian phone scammers each day.

When I went to buy a house with my second husband, I found out my ex never paid a $1000 loan we took out, he said he did but didn't. Now they wanted close to 5k. I offered the original pay off amount and they said no, they wanted all this interest and fees. This loan was about 6 years old. Our mortgage lady just pulled my credit from another agency and the loan wasn't on it and we were able to buy our house. The loan company lost out, they could have had the original amount agreed on all at once but instead they got nothing!!! This was 27 years ago and of course its off my credit.

I've had people calling to collect on someone else's debt. It's fun being so flippant while they call me the wrong name. They eventually stopped calling

You forgot the suing THEM for $1000 for the harassment part, if they continue.
