5 tips for better gesture drawing | ENIKO

this week I have 5 (+1) tips for gesture drawing - this is something I've struggled a lot with as the human body is rather complex. But applying these tips helped me to draw more accurate gestures. I hope you will find it helpful, too!

I've seen different forms of gesture drawings. Some teachers say, don't worry about the contours, concentration on the movement. Other teachers will emphasize the contours and shadows. I am confused because I don't know the style or method to learn.

I think to make a gesture, sweeping with key lines may add more liveness rather putting many scribbling lines.

Gesture drawing is definitely a struggle for me. Many people say it’s easy and doesn’t have to look “good” but when they gesture draw, they stay to trace the lines and proceed to inking over their trace and gesture art. Meanwhile, my gesture drawings look like mutant species 🤣

Tip from a viewer. Lose the music. You have a pleasant soft voice, but the music is drowning you out.
