One of the biggest problems with watching tech YouTubers is they emphasize video editing over just about everything. Turns out most people probably don’t care about editing videos.

Something the YouTubers ALWAYS forget is the construction industry. There’s SO much in the iPad Pro that I use constantly on the job, and would be completely lost without. The Lidar is invaluable for as-builds.

I feel like most YouTube tech reviewers are just biased towards the video software systems they use. “This iPad Pro doesn’t do Final Cut Pro like on a Mac, who would ever buy this piece of junk?!” When in reality, most people are not making video content. Which to a YouTube reviewer means “oh, you must be some elderly person who wants an iPad for looking up your recipes, what you want is the cheapest iPad they sell, it’s enough for you.” When in reality, people do want the nicer things, even if maybe they don’t fully utilize it. YouTube reviewers tend to be too extreme. Either you’re a super tech person pumping out videos like them, or someone who barely understands tech and just needs the cheapest thing to be satisfied. There’s a lot of in between.

I feel like most people buying the iPad Pro just want the nicer screen

Who else is watching this on their iPad?

as a college student, a lot of these tech youtubers don't realize how many people are buying the pro models every year even if they don't strictly need all of that power. Every year I see hundreds if not thousands of students on my campus (we have an apple store on campus) get the pro model ipads and macbooks. Also an iPad is probably the most useful thing you can have as a student so it makes sense to me that they are selling so well and people are going for the pro which they see as the best one they can get even if they aren't necessarily going to use all of the features.

iPad Pro (compared to iPad Air):
• substantially better display with ProMotion (which makes a massive, real-world difference),
• significantly superior speakers (which makes a massive, real-world difference),
• more (and better) microphones,
• better cameras (assuming, that someone actually takes photos with a tablet) and a LiDAR scanner,
• Face ID,
• compatibility with Thunderbolt accessories such as monitors,
• more future-proof.

The talk around the iPad is the strongest example of the tech community being way too deep in their own echo chamber and not acknowledging that the vast majority of people simply does not share the same views like that.

Yep, most of us knew this. Creatives are buying up iPad Pros in droves because of the screen and Pencil, and likely gonna see an uptick now that Procreate has come out against AI usage.

I brought an iPad because I wanted an iPad, if I wanted a MAC I’d buy a Mac. It’s really simple.

There’s a lot of “x86 supremacy” that goes on with more texh literate people, especially on YouTube. People think that the only ‘real’ computer is the one where you get to tinker with the file system and install all those professional programs and development tools, without realising that nowadays, that’s a very niche market. Most users just want their computer to be able to run a web browser and a few apps. Even the content creators can very easily do all their work on an iPad. Only people who really need a full MacOS would be programmers. On an iPad you can make art (in some cases even more easily than on Mac), you can make music (logic pro is not like on Mac but it is still very capable), you can edit videos, you can write and read and consume all kinds of content (also more conveniently). For 90% of people this is the perfect computing machine.

Probably the best audience for the ipad pro is a student/professional on the move. I needed something light that can run my programs for university and has a nice screen to look at movies.

A lot of my friends in school generally use the iPad for school stuff obviously but they also use it for music and honestly im a little jealous because it is so much easier to store pdf files and all in an iPad then it is to store music in a folder. Thats the one reason id need it

I am still using the Mini 5 and don’t see a reason to upgrade quite yet.

I have the iPad M4 11”, I got it because it’s OLED… I use it to take notes once a week or so.. it’s overkill but I like the design and screen.

i’m not surprised. iPad Pro in person just looks so much better than all other stepchildren ipads.

also, if u spec a regular ipad to a long term useable scenario, its price will come close to an iPad pro. one might as well just take the pro model instead.

there seems to be a lot of choices but there are only two options: entry level ipad and ipad pro.

and ipad mini, for 700 bucks, u get 64gb? 128gb storage, bad screen, 60hz… as much as i like ipad mini, that is a joke only apple can do. i can spend 1500 bucks for a 32gb machine equipped with latest cpu / gpu and also a high refresh screen.

i love apple products and sometimes i can bear apple’s greed, but i absolutely hate apple’s artificial limitations.

I just bought a new ipad air and pencil pro as I am getting into art for a game I'm developing.

I could have gone for a drawing tablet or android tablet, but for me, I tried a bunch of them and my experience on the iPad Air 11" was just the most comfortable and the easiest for me to get into and produce art with. Its just that simple for me.

People who don’t need tablets will never realise the need for tablets.

Rare W Tailosive Tech opinion.

Who would’ve thought? Making the iPad Pro a better iPad is a better strategy than turning it into a Mac. Mind. Blown.
