THE REALITY BEHIND SHANANN WATT'S VISION BOARD | ANTI-MLM

Shanann Watts was as much of a victim to Multilevel Marketing (direct selling, network marketing, social selling etc.) as she was to Chris. Being a part of MLM at such a young age no doubt impacted her worldview.

In her social media videos and posts we see a very "positive" Shanann even though behind the scenes she and Chris was in financial distress. The "lifestyle" of "time freedom" and "financial freedom" that people, like Shanann put out into the world is a fairy tale.

It is also an emotional and financial trap. Try as she may, and we can see she worked VERY HARD and was considered "successful," that success was an illusion. The house. The vacations. The events. The parties. All of that was bait to draw others in.

In this video, I examine her vision board in relation to the 2020 income disclosure statement and illustrate how what she envisioned was not based in reality.

Toxic positivity is a huge problem. So many people spout off manifesting slogans. It's very disturbing. Thanks for covering.

I can't believe MLM is not illegal.

I had a friend in the early 80's who joined Amway with her husband. They were a great couple, down to earth, laid back and not materialistic. All of a sudden this couple became obsessed with money. They plastered their refrigerator with pictures of money, designer clothes, expensive jewelry, fancy cars, fur coats etc. I'm sure that was their vision board.
One afternoon she asked me to join her for a luncheon. She and her husband picked me up and drove about an hour to a big hotel/convention center. The luncheon turned out to be an Amway convention. They had been trying to get me to join them in their "business" and I clearly told them I was not interested. I was not happy they tricked me, kidnapped me and subjected me to the most ridiculous display of greed I ever witnessed. About a dozen different guest speakers told their story of "rags" ( you know, living like a regular schmo) to "riches" : "I used to drive my old Ford Pinto to a job at the factory and now I drive my Mercedes around in the country all afternoon!"
The Amway people jumped around and cheered every time a speaker mentioned money or material goods. It was like a cult. There were tables of "motivational materials" for sale, books, cassette tapes, posters etc. and this event went on for hours, and there was no food, drink or snacks provided, not even popcorn.
I found the gift shop, bought a magazine and a coke and sat in the lobby until it was over.
Of course the more this couple got into Amway the more friends they lost. They eventually quit their jobs to "work full time on the business". Then their house was foreclosed, the new car was repossessed, the Rent to Own store picked up the t.v., livingroom furniture and kitchen table set. One day they loaded their old Chevy van with all of the Amway products (mostly soap) they had to purchase every month in order to "stay active" in the company and drove into the sunset. I heard they moved in with her mother at her apartment in Chicago.
I was amazed at how this couple were pulled into this SCAM, how it changed them (for the worst) and how they lost everything in a little over a year. I hope they eventually got their lives back together.

Ugh 😑 my good friend joined an MLM. She became so odd. Within a week, she went from a melancholy ( think eeyore) personality to A cheerleader 📣 type personality. It was insufferable 😩 I couldn’t talk to her anymore. So basically, I lost a friend 🫤.

She was in several MLM scams, Thrive, Lularoe and more. She was not only driving herself into bankruptcy, but she also neglected her daughters by being on the phone making videos during several hours a day...

She was absolutely delusional to think any of that was going to happen. They were so poor she took the kids out of school for 6 weeks and made out to have a "holiday with family" when infact she couldn't handle 6 weeks at home every day with her own kids, she needed family to help her look after them. Why have a 3rd if you can't handle 2?

It’s sad that Shannan thought she had a career. She was just a fooled customer herself to LeVel

I cannot fathom being months behind on a mortgage, continuing to spend lavishly, going on numerous vacations and actually even considering having another child. She was definitely delusional. It was so disturbing how her videos showed her constantly coaching the little girls what to do or say. So sad!

Notice how you can tell MLM just by their posts. Most people aren’t vain and “ show off” financial success ( more like shove it in your face). People post family, vacations and events. MLM mainly glorify material wealth, as if it is the only thing that can make someone happy. Humble people are usually the happiest and free ( free from stress and debt)

Her vision board was so unattainable it was ridiculous. This was a grown woman that thought she could pay her home off within months, and go on vacations around the world... Chris was going to retire, new homes.. Did she have any understanding about budgeting and income they made together? Was she that far from reality?? I mean maybe if it was reasonable, small goals I wouldn't be here poking fun at her board but.... She was far out there

It's too bad that Shanann couldn't channel all that energy and ambition into something that was real. These MLMs are just evil to the core.

She was delusional. The fact that they were 3 months behind on their mortgage but the kids had brand new clothes and costumes and toys and travel and on and on and on. And that pre-school that cost $20k a year, are you kidding me? She wasn't the brightest bulb but she sure was determined and driven. It breaks my heart to think about the kids and her being killed and disposed of the way they were. Chris was steamrolled like so many of Shanann's Thrive underlings. So many disturbing clues in all the FB videos. The whole family system on each side seems to be a bit off. But the materialism that Shanann was so enslaved to ended up being her undoing. I think if they had not been so financially underwater he may have just left her, divorced her, and moved on.

It had to be exhausting trying to put on the facade that she was doing well. Let’s call it what it is...a cult!

Sad she spent the last 3 years of her life obsessed with an MLM and forcing a phone in her family’s face 24/7. She wasted so much time trying to fool strangers instead of enjoying moments with her kids. Nothing in their life was private. Her vision board was very sad as well. It was nothing but thrive related. So sad that her goals and dreams weren’t set higher then an MLM company. Those poor babies too. They didn’t ask for any of this RIP 🙏🏻

When she had her neck surgery and had Chris post on her fb page, that she is in pain, but is doing good, while still helping others.
The helping others part rubbed me the wrong way. It sounded like she had been so full of herself and a martyr, like - I just had surgery, I'm in pain, BUT I still think of you and how I can make your life better!
Did she really think by spreading the word of Le-Vel and selling thrive products, she helped others?!?

Just being "positive" all the time is so toxic. The issue with such thinking is their "other side of the coin" is being pessimistic all the time. Being realistic in goals and using something like a vision board can help you achieve better goals for your life, but those oftentimes are smaller, less flashy goals. Conning people into thinking getting a luxury vehicle is the first step to a good life is so predatory. They are so money hungry, it's disgusting.

I'm sure being in debt had a lot to do with stress on the marriage, but I've always thought it was more about the constant filming and talking all the time to people while you're filming. I saw several post where she kept saying I'm going to get off now we're fixing to do such and such and then somebody else would pop up and she would start talking to them and do the whole spill again about whatever she was talking about with thrive. I'm a private person and that would drive me crazy. I don't know how he felt about it and it certainly didn't excuse anything he did at all. I just feel the constant talking to other people and not being present at the time with the family and him contributed to the marriage breaking down.

Her goal to scam as many people as possible despite the fact that it bankrupted her...now that is just evil

I **hate** what happened to them it's horrific but if you watch her videos and cannot see something very wrong...SMH. This entire family had serious issues 😐

There is a 2010 movie called The Joneses staring David Duchovny and Demi Moore. It’s about a suburban family of 4 with a seemingly picture perfect life. But, we find this perfect family are actually actors hired to sell products to their neighbors. 🧐 see any similarities.
