Step 1
Sharpen you chain

I'd recommend a Stihl 2in1 file, they work really well and last a long time. Worth the money

That cut is an excellent choice. If you have several trees to deal with, or larger trees, you can try a straight down "salami" cut from the top only. Start your cut in the top and when the bar is all the way in the tree, just "palm" a wedge or lightly tap it in the top of the cut with an axe. The wedge maintains the gap for you while you cut. Then you can just blast straight down without having to line up the cuts. Lifting up to cut gets tiring on a bigger tree. Easy peasy dude. Take care....

Thank you for providing this video! How would you deal with a widow maker which is actually a massive branch that broke off a tree and is held by the lower branches in a precarious way?

Best way is to start at the top until half way through and then work around to the bottom with just the tip borrowed in the wood, and then cut from beneath. Works everytime. Just remember to cut the compressed wood first always. If you have a monster saw, you can also cut straight towards the ground, just like that, to make rest of the tree fall. And make sure you don't use a dull chain like in this video. Saves you a lot of problems.

Thanks for making this video. The tree im cutting down is massive with 2 huge branches up high, going different directions, one of em is in the ground. I have it cut mostly through near the base but its completely hung up. I tried come-along pulls in 3 different spots with no success. If the wind doesn't take it down this week, im going to finish it off with a polesaw near the trunk so when it goes i wont be near it

what I have is a pine tree that kind of snapped off about six feet from the ground and is now at an angle. I'm not sure whether to try to cut the part below where it snapped off as I'm not sure where that broken part that's being held up will jump. It would be a about a foot in diameter or bigger.

Small saw would have worked just fine - with a sharp chain.

I had one down like that. Had to'rinse and repeat' several times because didn't have access to tractor.

I got a do the same damn thing on two trees three to four times bigger than that . That's a little tree but yeah that's about the only way to do it unless you have a bull dozer and a big chain and just hook it on and pull out the whole stump with it .

why isn’t the camera on the other side to see what is being cut?

They sell files and if you know how to sharpen a chain it will spit chips again instead of smoke

Skip the music, the song of the saw cutting is much better.

No hard hat, no gloves, no hearing protection, no eye protection, nothing to protect the legs... He's just asking for a serious accident, and if he survives long enough he'll develop tinnitus instead.
