The brand of salt matters. Not all brands are ethically sourced. Himalayan salt can also have a high level of lead, mercury, and cadmium.

Iodine is needed in the body because some regions don’t consume enough for hormonal homeostasis. Thus iodized salt, it’s needed.

Guys.. Doctor here. Salt will always spike your blood pressure it’s part of the physiological response. As you consume salt, water is dragged along which increased the volume in your circulation. Your kidney then does the job it’s supposed to do which is to excrete the excess fluid and stabilise your blood pressure. Nothing bad about this, it’s the body’s way of maintaining homeostasis. Bottom line - salt does not always cause chronicly high blood pressure, unless your pounding it every day in copious amounts.

Be careful though because iodine is still important and not enough can cause thyroid issues. I had switched to sea salt and my iodine got too low so I now use a mix of Himalayan salt and iodized sea salt

Iodine is a necessary supplement, that's the anti caking agent, plus salt is salt, When it comes to blood pressure.

This guy is tripping. He says iodized salt "isn't pure salt" and then "it's pure sodium chloride."

Who's going to tell him that sodium chloride IS pure salt? The pink sea salt he's promoting is sodium chloride too

First, sodium chloride is in sea salt. Second, the amount of minerals in sea salt are so miniscule that it makes absolutely no impact in one's health. There are numerous studies proving this. Salt intake is about balancing electrolytes. I for one need the high levels of sodium chloride to increase my blood pressure and prevent black outs, where my husband needs more potassium chloride or "lite salt" to prevent headaches from electrolyte imbalance.

There is no one fits all when it comes to dietary needs. Be sure to try different types and do your own research to find what suits YOUR needs.

Wait until this guy does some more research that iodized salt actually saved millions of human lives….

Yep! You’re absolutely right about the salt.

I just use regular table salt for general eating. I use sea salt if I'm fermenting something, like if I'm making pickles.

I use grey celtic sea salt. It has a wonderful taste and has minerals in it as well.

There was a study that showed the trace minerals in pink salt were very insigficant. There’s really no need to pay more for it.

There are so many patients that have hypothyroidism due to them not consuming enough iodine. It's true that not everybody needs it, but not all regions have soil rich in iodine and a lot of it can be washed away by rain. When you make a dietary change like this go to your doctor, they will be able to advice you and keep you on the safe side.
