The problem with this is that over time your hair will get dryer and weaker. Best thing you can do is condition with a conditioner for curly hair and get a good hydrating curl activator. Personally I use cantu and my hair goes from 2c to 3b. It's also important to dry it softly and not use a blow dryer because it damages the hair.

Salt and water acts as a natural texture spray which curly hair ppl use. It helps to enhance natural texture in ur hair

edit: to all the ppl coming at me saying "no curly hair ppl dont do this!" Yall, i have 3a- 3c hair and sooo many people do this besides me. I dont know what the side effects of salt are, but what i said is still true. It DOES enhance curl. I never claimed in was good for your hair. And to those asking: idk what effect using on straight hair would do, but probably just make it wavier.

If you have curly hair already I would not recommend doing this, it will just dry your curls and make them frizz faster. 👍🏽

actually salt water can cause ur hair to be very dry 😅 (depends on how much salt water)

guys some tips for hair from my hair stylist but not applicable for all types of hair (still updating :D ):
- use the rubber band to prevent breakage as rubber bands that use a lot of elastic/rubber like the normal rubber band and scrunchies will kinda cause "friction" and breakage.

scientific explanation (don’t read if u don’t want brain to be further ded!!!imma just put this at the bottom cuz not 100% accurate sorry...)
my guess is that there is higher water potential in one’s hair than in the salt water so the water would diffuse out of the hair into the salt water thru osmosis and since hair requires water to have enough nutrients and that since there is lesser water after spraying salt water, the hair would be more dry (due to the water diffusing out of the hair, to the salt)

Okay but anyone with curls knows that HYDRATION IS KEY 🙏 and for long lasting healthy curls u don’t want to put a dehydrating material like salt into it long term 😅😊
