This week's guest is Kornelia Binicewicz aka Ladies on Records; a record collector, DJ and an anthropologist of culture. Ladies on Records is a curatorial venture. Its primary focus is female music caught on dusty records and tapes, in the hidden archives and back catalogs of the music labels from around the world. Throughout 5 years of digging in records and meeting forgotten or unrecognised female singers, she also managed to dive in the back catalogues of old Turkish labels. She curated “Turkish Ladies. Female Singers from Turkey 1973 - 1988” (Epic Istanbul).

I've been patiently waiting for a Hungarian tune and there you go at 17:45 a funky song from Zalatnay Cini followed by Kovács Kati at 39:00 . Cheers for this, made my day!

Да, с кого ещё мог бы начинаться сет восточно-европейских вокалисток, как не с Аллы Борисовны! :))
Great mix, thank you!

Alla Pugacheva had so many great disco and funky tunes in her catalog. The Queen of Soviet pop.

That Breakout album N.O.L. is one of my favorite albums of all time. Spent 5 years digging vinyl in Eastern Europe. What an education.

Thanks for some good dose of Krystyna Prońko, she's such a great and painfully underappreciated singer. I miss the times when pop singers were professional musicians </3

Awesome . Some wicked crate digging going on here. I've checked out a few Eastern European jams in the past, and they certainly bought the funk back in the day. So it's good to get a chance to kick back and hear and learn about all these amazing artists.

I was looking around for anything to do with Donika Venkova, having just created a new page at my 'Girls Of The Golden East' Blog dedicated to her eponymous LP from 1973, the videos recorded on the occasion of her seventy-sixth birthday, then this came along. I've got that 'Príď' by Bezinky in my collection and funky stuff it is too! Although that is not in my collection in this instance when Krystyna Prońko's 'Deszcz w Cisnej' came on the opening bars had me thinking of Zdzisława Sośnicka's 'Za inny dzien za inna noc' for a short while.
