A selection of classic Chicha & Cumbia from the 60s & 70s - the golden age of Peruvian music featuring legendary acts like Los Destellos, Los Wemblers & Chacalon. This week's guest is Cal Jader, who is one of the musical activists behind London Latin cultural protagonists Movimientos and co-host of one of London's liveliest tropical parties, Love Carnival. His trademark blend of Latin beats, carnival rhythms and fresh global sounds are helping to soundtrack London's underground music scene and with gigs, at clubs and festivals around the globe, he’s played as far afield as Mexico City, Beirut, Bogota, Istanbul, and all-around Brazil in Rio, Salvador, Brasilia and Recife, festivals in the UK everywhere like Bestival and Glastonbury as well as closing WOMAD in Fuerteventura and regular spots around Europe at parties in Barcelona, Paris & Lisbon.

Six years ago I was traveling in Perú and I found a tone of vinyl... Chicha, Cumbia, Salsa... I loved waking up early on Saturdays to go to El Baratillo market in Cusco. I also found very good records in Jirón Quilca, in Lima. I fell in love with that country, long live Peru!!!
