Turmeric + autoimmune

Показать описание
Last summer I was chatting with some friends about turmeric and one of them shared that when she took turmeric supplements, they actually caused more pain and discomfort in her joints that usually only occurs when she’s in a flare from her autoimmune concerns.
We’ve heard for a while now about how great turmeric can be for reducing inflammation, and in many cases small amounts of turmeric can be beneficial. However, in larger amounts, curcumin (one of the active compounds in turmeric) can actually make autoimmune symptoms worse.
After the conversation with my friend, I also stopped taking the turmeric supplements I had been using (these contained a highly concentrated amount of turmeric) and in the last 4 months since I’ve stopped using them I’ve seen my own auto immune symptoms improve tremendously.

What’s right for your body might not be right for *every* body. It’s so important to pay attention to how you are feeling, especially when starting a new supplement. And not just the next day, but monitor yourself on an ongoing basis to see if you feel better or worse long term.
Have you ever experienced this from turmeric or other supplements? Share your thoughts!
