Solved VMWare error: Failed to start virtual machine

I had this issue however the Unregister/re-register didn't actually solve the issue. It turned out that for some reason the server rebooted in maintenance mode. All i had to do was disable maintenance mode and the VM's powered up as normal.

If you are still struggling to get this to work, just go to the virtual machine, edit, and change the hardware compatibility

Help bro, I was in a session when my pc slept and the usb that hosted the kali os was pulled out without properly shutting down the virtual machine, some error showed but i killed the process with task manager. now i'm getting error message: failed to start
virtal machine.

I'm having a different problem, it says File not found:

This file is required to power on this virtual machine. If this file was moved, specify the new location. How do i solve this problem?

Hello Kapil, thanks for the post. I have tired this but I still can't open the virtual machine. The pattern here is I have four virtual machines, and I am only able to power up one virtual machine. As soon as I power up one machine, I get the error " Failed to start virtual machine". It's really frustrating. Any thoughts here? Thanks very much!

I have a pop saying only "Failed to start the virtu machine", and I couldn't find the .lck files either
