It's been 1 year since we started creating tutorial videos on this channel.

So this seemed like a good time to update the first video in the series and try to make a "crash course" for new comers who just want to jump right in to making their games.

Hi GDevelop! First of all thank you for offering such an accessible and straightforward platform for a no-code game design tool. I am a secondary school teacher and have been teaching Game Design to my class using Gdevelop for a few weeks now, however there is one common issue we seem to be picking up. Many of your guide videos leave out really crucial details such as where to explicitly find resources or how resources such as sprites are added. This plays out in your guide videos by mentioning you are adding it, followed by all assets magically appearing on your screen. They are also relatively fast-paced as well. Trying to redirect my students on how to find the resources you use in Gdevelop has been especially tricky for my students who are less proficient in English or have mild learning disabilities.

I don't mean any ill will behind this, but I recommend getting anybody who is relatively new to your platform to follow your guides and see if they are able to keep up, because even I had some difficulty following the pacing in these guides. Even something as simple as having your assets used in your videos easily available in your video descriptions would go a long way. It is just one person's opinion, but simple things like this can really make or break how people access your wonderful platform!

It's 3 AM, and I couldn't sleep. I was just randomly searching about game engines and came across this beautiful gem, which I didn't knew these many days that it has existed.

I thought this was a tutorial, why do you keep cutting out the parts where you do stuff.

I'm glad to see that there is things to help you if you get stuck I just started creating my own today and the videos was really helpful and the tutorial is really helpful as well, its also really easy just to get use to all the controls. You guys make me want to keep on pushing even though sometimes I can't figure out things I can just go back to your videos and they remind me how to do things, so you guys are really helpful. when I started today I didn't get one thing though because I do this on Mac and you have to do something slightly different with the controls you have, but overall I think its a really good way to start making games. I'm going to stick with G Develop, because its the best thing I've saw so far that can actually encourage you to make games and help you if you are a beginner.

I've been using no code engines since I was 10 and I wish GDevelop existed back then because it's so fast to build games with it. Even now that I know how to code, I prefer to use it because I have limited free time.

WOWOWOWOWOWO! Glad to see this coming. In future, the basic things like if player imported, for it to flip left and right and move sideways with jump could be automated at start itself!

Few problems with this tutorial. GDevelop UI and the number of events and behaviors have changed. This tutorial is not accurate enough to be followed by step by step basis.

I love the engine so far ! We still need more users, guides and tutorials. Also some good games made with GD so that it will attract more users.

Love this video. It really shows in 5 minutes what's so great with GDevelop and how creation is really accessible - from professional game designers to... real beginners!
Fast, powerful, super accessible, the perfect place to create all the next hit games - that's what we want :)

Because I learnt Python and this is my main goal for now, I prefer to use Godot game engine more.
GDScript is very similar to Python so it's easy to learn both in the same time but I really like GDevelop 5 and the way how you improve it and all new content what you make.
I'll still use GDevelop for prototypes and simple projects and my next plan is to learn JavaScript so both game engines are good for me.

Great video! :)
