A few years ago we bought a Chevy Spark EV. Best decision ever.. $7500 used with 30000 miles. Yes it’s mostly driven around town but is good for 65 miles.
Something non-eEV owners should know before the buy is in a cold climate the heater cuts down on the range quite a bit. Oddly the A/C uses little power and will freeze you out in 100 degree weather. Another consideration is check out the charging rate for the car. Paying extra for the DC fast charge option is worth it.

Love how most of these are over 20k and the ones that are not cost 15 or 16k. The bottom 3 are not available in the US except for #10 which counts as a golf cart

It was difficult to compare the statistics you were giving because you kept switching back and forth between metric and imperial. Please consider providing both for each that you are reviewing.

"Affordable". Depending on where you live in the world the actual affordability is relative.

Personally I could only afford the last six vehicles of I could get them without having to pay VAT, Customs Duty, and VAT on Customs Duty. Nevermind getting it insured (and the VAT on the insurance).

The microclino is not going to be 12K dollars. It's pricing range between 15 to 20k according to another video on it. Good video tho

The EV in the image is, funny enough, exactly the car that I drive right now and I'm pretty happy with it!

Prices are ridiculously high and will be for at least 10 years.

Most of these cars are designed for city dwellers. But if you live in a city you can make well above median income and still not be able to afford any of these. Setting that aside, many people can only afford one car so even if there's only one driver most of the time the car still needs to be able to seat 4 comfortably. If you live in a northern city, AWD is a must because you can't afford to waste your charge on unavoidable slippage & wheelspin caused by snow. Many of these cities also have bad roads so decent ground clearance is another must. In many countries cars share the roads with trucks. That makes visibility a necessity and that means height. Then there're demographics: Older people are more likely to be able to afford these vehicles so easy entrance & egress is another requisite feature.

To put it all together....

Would it really kill all these EV companies to make a vehicle with in-wheel motors at all the way around, have decent ground clearance, be tall enough to allow a 185cm middle-aged man to get in and out easily, seat 4 full-sized adults, and have solar panels on the roof to charge the batteries a bit whenever the car is in the sun?

Seriously, it's like none of these companies have anyone on their design teams responsible for making sure the cars fit real world use situations.

Electric cars are what the media wants you to talk about rather than the fact that DECENT PUBLIC TRANSIT makes far more sense. Many places in NA are seeing new immigrant populations, and many are not choosing to live in suburbs because, well, that was freaking crazy.

Decent public transit makes the whole electric car issue go away. If you are rural and driving, the only thing going to change your mind are gas prices.

A friend bought a Smart Car. He felt smarter when he sold it than when he bought it. He mostly drove to work and to the grocery store but he also wanted to visit friends that were almost 40 miles away. It would not do that in good weather and would be worse when cold. He sold it in about 3 months. 58 miles round trip is not much and his car would not do what was advertised.
