The bell did not kill Ernesto the second time. Because according to director Lee Unkrich, Ernesto still lives in the Land of the Dead, although he will not be forgotten, but remembered as a murderous con artist and fraud, implying that he won't be able to meet the Final Death and also be forever disgraced by everyone both living and dead.

After watching this video on repeat a dozen times, the features of the audience jeering "Get off the stage" and the conductor snapping his conducting baton in two was pretty wholesome.

Someone pointed this out in the comments of a different video, but the bells are pretty symbolic of Ernesto's lives. The one that killed him when he was famous was shiny and clean, symbolizing his fame and adoration. While the one in this scene that crushes him is rusted and cracked, symbolizing everyone's disdain for him

Mike Wazowski: I don’t know about the rest of you guys, but I spotted several big mistakes.
Ernesto: But, how did you—?
Mike: You know what? Let’s watch my favorite part again, shall we?
(Replays footage of Ernesto saying “I’m the one who’s willing to do what it takes to seize my moment. Whatever it takes”.)

tbh, this is one of the worst fates any animated villain has suffered, stuck in the afterlife, being disgraced and hated forever and ever, till the end of time.

I hated Ernesto. It’s so sad that Hector lost everything when Ernesto murdered him. My theory is that God kept Coco alive so that Miguel could discover truth that Ernesto was bad all along and that Hector was the true musician and Great Great Grandfather of Miguel. Ernesto needs to rot in Hell

Héctor was starting to be forgotten but thanks to Miguel he’s being remembered

Props to the cameraman, and the guy holding the spotlight for being able to follow Nesto all the way until the bell crushing him!😎

Ghost Rider: You, Ernesto, Guilty!
Look into my eyes!
Your soul is stained by the blood of innocent!
Feel their pain!

0:24 Ernesto realizes that the world of dead had somehow uncovered his secret unless he knows he had been broadcast

I love the part where the conductor just breaks his baton, while looking at De La Cruz for who he is.

His second death was the same as his first death

The fact he kept trying to go on like normal when everyone kept getting more aggresive really shows how arrogant he is, makes his defeat all the more satisfying. :D

I would have loved a post credits scene where Ernesto de la Cruz is on the side of an alley holding a sign that says “will sing for pesos”.
Then his bones give a quick glow and he looks worried indicating that he’s already in the process of being forgotten.

Ernesto totally deserved to get crushed by the bell both the first and second time.

Even if he did survive the second time, getting crushed, he is a complete disgrace and an outcast from everyone else for all his crimes he committed.

If they have jail in the land of the dead, I hope he’s in there for the rest of his so-called existence. He gives both musicians and music a bad name.

Makes you wonder? What did De La Cruz do under the bell?
