Publishing the video with all its mistakes was a form of a review in itself.

Yeah some of these things just made this a non-option for me.
The fact it is so watered down is just a bit ridiculous

Any interest I had left in iPads is now gone

Drew has been spitting fire lately with his iPad commentary! Nice

I know you've used Lumafusion on iPad as well, so may I brogan attention to the fact that Lumafusion has a stabilisation feature and it work actually really well, I have personally used it many times

I think give it a year there should be more features, particularly when the features you and others mention come out. I do feel when the rumoured iPad Pro is released next year and iPhoneesque cameras arrive more people will use it professionally. M3 and better battery should also bring way more features and still have an excellent battery life

You should do Final Cut iPad vs Luma Fusion

Drew, please explain: how is a 12.9” display is “technically larger in area” than a 13.3” display?

I’ve enjoyed my time using final cut on the ipad i think it’s great but i wish people would understand that of course its not a replacement for the mac version. nobody will be editing movies on an ipad, this is simply a more advanced replacement for the aging imovie and if you treat it as such it’s solid

I have an M2 iPad Pro and love it~ But maybe I'm just in a niche demographic. I mainly use it for three things:
- Illustrations / Graphic design
- Garage band (now Logic Pro)
- Photo editing (for my Sony a7iii camera)

As well as read sheet music on... tho any ipad would work for that lol.
Anyways, all of these things my iPad does great with! Yes, my MacBook Pro M1 can also do all of these things (well.. drawing with wacom tablet), and when i'm at home, I definitely prefer my MacBook. but that set up is just not as portable as a tablet, and I'm often going out.

It's just slightly sad to constantly hear that this iPad is not worth buying. and for most people, I agree. just... doesn't apply to everyone.

I would like to learn how to use Final Cut Pro but I don’t have anything that will run it… I’ll have to stick with iMovie.

If they make final cut pro on Mac a subscription, I will go insane

For the record you said you don’t experience that many bugs in apple software. See section mentioning files app and Final Cut Pro for iPad. This is what we’re on about ;) welcome to the club.

Keepin it real Drew! Yea…an iPad is a jack of all trades, master of nothing. It needs a dual boot MacOS option…otherwise all iPads aren’t worth more than $500 IMO.

I have the iPad 5th Gen M1. Love it, but I don't really love the FCP on my iPad. I am totally new in learning to use FCP. I want to get good at it for droning. Other videos I have seen, just seems that the iMac version just doesn't have a lot of the things you want to edit video. I do know if you want to highlight multiple videos on iPad you can. You just have to press the screen just outside the videos you want to highlight and give it a couple seconds then you have the option to drag over multiple videos if you want to adjust and move them.

I am fining that I have to be stupid careful when deleting a clip because it can cause a bunch of other clips to be off and I have to spend a tone of time fixing them. Also, unlike the iMac FCP version I have to make the video and save it and sometimes I have no idea where the hell it saved it? Not in pictures, not in files, but somehow it's saved in the FCP software because the storage space is gone and now FCP could be 150gigs bigger and I have no clue how to retrieve the video. I had to breakdown and uninstall the app to get my space back. Then reinstall the FCP app to get my storage space back. WTH?

I did see a video where you can after editing on FCP in iMac you can upload it directly to YouTube and save the settings you want. iPad you cannot do this! I feel this version is so stupid watered down from the iMac version.

I have Final Cut Pro for a whole year subscription. I feel unless it gets better, I should just pay the $300 bucks for my iMac 24" with 256gigs the upgraded version not standard and use FCP for my iMac instead. Any comments totally welcome! Thank you and great video!

Would be nice to know if the latest version fixes any of these issues.

Honestly, given the amount of problems Drew had with FCP on iPad, I don’t even think it’s the best editing app on the iPad. That title still goes to LumaFusion in my opinion. Sure, LumaFusion is missing a few features from iPad FCP, but there are a lot more features present on LumaFusion that are absent from iPad FCP. External Display Support, editing off of external SSDs, compounding clips, better volume control, and a bunch more.

I think a lot of missing features and bad performance has to do with the fact that it is a version 1.0 product. Yes, they better had to wait until it is completely ready, but I'm pretty sure we would see a lot of improvements in the next months.

I think apple released it before WWDC because it would have been overlooked by the keynote and the things they're saving for that....this is kind of a bridge between now and WWDC. Gain some Hype before WWDC
