College Major Stereotypes Explained by Students

Psychology is one of the most popular majors next to Business. I dont know how you guys couldn't find one psych student. Anyway as a psych major I usually get "Oh, so you can read my mind" or "Are you going to analyze me?"

I’m a software engineer, and the stereotype is exactly that electrical engineer dude’s response. I’m not amazing at math and science, but I am a shut in, introvert, which is one big reason why I majored in programming 😂

I'm an I.T. major and everyone thinks I am an introvert that can fix their computer. Well, I am an introvert, but I am not geek squad. Most of my classes are business, programming or database courses. I have only opened the inside of a laptop twice.

My roomate is an engineering major. He indeed has no social life, I'm not sure if I ever seen him talk to a girl before. And yes he also plays a lot of videogames on his computer. Everytime I wake up, come home, and before I go to sleep, he's on his computer

Stereotypes on the Microbiology major is that their class major is very small compared to biology.

As a math and physics double major, stereotypes about us are like what the engineering major said but cranked up to 11. So much so that we have our own stereotypes about engineering majors. Engineering majors are seen as loud and outgoing compared to us.

You can feel the difference, when you walk into each classroom. When you walk into an engineering classroom it’s loud with people talking. When you walk into a physics classroom people are each talking in there own groups at a moderate level. And then when you walk into a math classroom, it’s dead silence.

Of course, we also have the stereotype of all being nerdy, socially inept, know it all, geniuses.

I'm a Business major with specialization in Banking and Finance. Yeah we care about money, like obviously what we are supposed to care about? Finance is all about money, like medicine students only cares about health, we finance students cares about wealth!
