4 young kids left home alone for holidays at Chicago home, police say

This young man is brave. He took care of his siblings and knew something was wrong. I hope all of the siblings are together and many prayers to this boy. Life is not fair

So, there were two parents involved? Not that a single parent would be better, but it’s insane that both parents were able to callously leave the children and babies alone…and over the Christmas holiday. I hope these poor little ones find a safer and much happier home where they can hopefully recover from the clear abuse they were subjected to. As for the parents…I can think of a few things that should ultimately befall them once they’re located.

It's a ridiculous law that children need to be 14 to be left home alone. But that being said, a week and a half is far too long to be left alone at 1 year old with only an 11 year old in charge.

Our parents went camping in the woods, leaving us four children alone. Three days and nights. Oldest child 8 yeas old. Left in charge.

I was 12 when I was allowed to stay by myself… number one I was mature enough to handle that. I babysat my nieces and nephews by age 13. That being said we live in much more dangerous times and this kid was 11 with multiple kids. I think 14 is a bit much… if a kid is mature enough there’s no reason they can’t stay alone at 12 while you run to the store or something… 14 maybe for an entire day while at work. If I even remotely lived near any of these crap hole cities I wouldn’t leave my kids alone until MAYBE 17…..

Let’s consider Chicago a third world country inside our own. Fence it off and charge admission like a safari. Set up feeding stations so the kids can watch them eat

My sister lives across the street and she said she was coming in from work and she asked the little boy what was wrong because he was standing on the porch like crying angrily, but he went back inside. She figured maybe he was upset with someone so she went inside her home. A few minutes later she said she saw like 4 police cars, paramedics and they were bringing kids outside😓 Who knew they were alone😩

I hope they don't get that 11 year old who told back to whoever/ what ever parents. Because people like to blame kids and I wouldn't want anyone to hurt him for telling. This is sad. I hope they get all of the help they need.

I cried hearing this. I have a 1 year old and a 4 year old. I know how hard it is to care for their needs and keep a home running on a good day and I'm an adult. This fills me with rage...child abuse and neglect should be punished with the full force of the law!

Wtf is wrong with people! Leave an 11 yr old child in charge of other children. Im glad the boy spoke up but its such a shame it had to be like this! 🥺

Wow. Those older children are likely to suffer from trauma of the neglect and abandonment. I’m glad the oldest was led to seek help for the immediate situation. Once parents/guardians are identified and investigated, I hope the follow up is made public. Tragic.
