So many factors it comes to building an armature! The biggest one though is making sure that you actually get armature wire. It’s easy to assume that you can just get any wire at any hardware store, but none of them will have the malleability that you need to create an armature for sculpture.

Thanks for teaching this kind of thing, I’ve never taken a sculpture class and I never would have known what kind of wire to go for. Thanks!

How cool! I always forget sculpture is a thing 😬 maybe I should try it out myself!

Why not steel or copper? I have seen others suggest either of them for art dolls.

Don't use steel... why? It seems to me superior, just by the fact that you can solder it; it's inexpensive/ available everywhere. And for easy bending, you just use a lighter gauge than you would with aluminum. Steel is used as the "armature in massive concrete structures. So I could benefit to be told 'why' you would claim 'don't use steel' rather than just stating it without explanation. Thanks! Have a blessed day all you art people. Blessings. Peace
