I used to work for Amazon returns and we were supposed to put the sticker on every item we inspected but sometimes you run out lol also we don’t determine the price decrease, that’s up to the seller. That’s why the discounts vary so wildly

2:09 Re: The Prismacolors- Never judge a Prisma until after sharpening and using it, because it could have a badly broken core. No matter why it was returned, it's been through extra jostling and handling... and the brand is notorious for it's easily broken cores. Just sayin'. 😉

Amazon is super weird about sellers selling things. So if the item is possibly opened, they can’t sell it as new even if it was never used. So some of these “like new” items are probably brand new with minor defects in packaging from the third party seller. Like new in package video games, even if the plastic is barely open or ripped on a corner, most sellers sell them as “like new” so they don’t get dinged by the buyers or amazon for saying it was new

I buy from the Amazon warehouse a lot. I found that if you click on the list of all of the sellers you can read a description under each listing of the condition. They will sometimes even tell you what is missing and if there is any damage and where it might be on the item. It definitely helps in deciding if it is worth the risk. I think a lot of the items are not actually used but have some damage to the packaging from shipping and storage at the warehouse.

I ordered a liquitex 48 pack of acrylic paints. Normally it was about 70 but I got it for 51 in “good” condition. I kid you not it was perfect. The slightest knick in the side of the packaging but other than that the plastic wrap was still sealed over it. That’s still my greatest find to this day.

I can tell you, from a used to be Amazon inspector 😂, that it goes by a system that we fill out on a computer and that tells us what category it goes in. Even if we are looking at it and are saying “hey this shouldn’t be resold” sometimes it will tell us that it can.

I order used Amazon products a lot and have had success on almost every item. It's a great way for me, a struggling artist, to pinch pennies. Of course I must tell you my one miss in otherwise great products. To be fair, it was marked as "acceptable ". Let me assure you, it was anything but. I opened that bad boy up expecting it to be good to go like all my previous things but imagine my surprise to find that it had been used as a dog toy!!! That's not hyperbole, it was chewed up with obvious teeth marks! I could not believe my eyes. When I contacted Amazon the rep got snarking with me asking "did you not read the acceptable part of the listing?" I almost lost my religion then and there! Needless to say, after I explained that nowhere in the description did it inform me it was a used dog treat, thus, in nobody's world it would be acceptable, i was given a full refund. I can laugh about it now, but at the time, it wasn't humorous in the least.🤣🤣

I’ve purchased several returned Amazon products from the good to like new categories, and I’ve never had an issue. Most of the time it’s just the packaging that’s damaged. I almost always look for used items first, then if there aren’t any, I buy new. I’ve gotten some killer deals.

As an art teacher, we’re always searching for inexpensive supplies. I’m always accepting pre-used materials because it’s STILL workable mediums. Just because the package is open or dirty, don’t mean a thing. I’ve purchase many books and other items in like new or acceptable. I encourage others to do the same unless your are giving g an item as a gift.

I bought a returned 24 pack of Prismacolor Verithins for half off. It had the Second Life sticker on it, but actually wasn't opened down the middle to make it slide and stand open. I think someone opened the edge flap, saw a pencil had a big split splinter in it from the factory and returned it. It was the light peach color and not important for my project so I just crazy glued it back together and you can't tell the 1 pencil was damaged.

OH! I have a story about those Stabilo pens! I love them, for one- but I ordered a pack for 13 dollars... and they sent me the WHOLE RETAIL BOX of pens.
I gave them to artists in my family, heh.

Amazon returns are a hit and miss. I buy it all the time. Make sure you check if it’s cheaper if there is a coupon for a new item. Coupons can’t be used on n used items

As someone who’s worked retail for 10 years, your expectations were skewed. I have retailers damage out merchandise because it looks like it MIGHT have a scratch on it from one angle under light 😂 “totally unsellable”
