that brush "reshaper" has brought back oil brushes that got all crusty from sitting around for like 3 months from the brink of death + i use it on oil stains lol like ive gotten out paint stains from pants that i had already washed & dried 👍

Ok but that brush shaper is really good as soap (its intended purpose) its brought back brushes that were crusted over with glue, dried acrylic, oil, took stains out of white watercolor brushes etc. i fuck with it so hard

That is not a brush shaper, it’s a cleaner and you’re meant to wet the brush then gently swirl it around and then gently wash the brush hairs under water. It helps keeps brushes alive for a very long time if used properly and can bring basically any crusty brush back to life. It’s used by many many professionals as it’s probably the best brush cleaners out there.

You're not encouraged to sharpen charcoal pencils in a sharpener like that. The rotating/ sharpening action will vibrate the core and cause it to break inside the wood. Try using a blade to chip away at the wood
Most people I know use this method. If you want rounded corners, you can sand it down on sandpaper

That brush shaper is the best brush cleaner ever. I have been able to bring crusty paint dried brushes back to life with it. Hair Conditioner and vaseline leave residue on brushes... But to each their own.

check the opacity rating of each paint color you buy. the problem isn't usually the brand. i might be biased in favor of daler rowney though

as an artist i use daler rowney paint but mine is in a different tube they’re the heavy body acrylic paint and works amazingly you should try it out it works just as well as the winsor newton paints

Daler rowney has its advantage. First of all you can work with sheer layer to achieve a soften edge which makes painting look very nice and realistic. And you can mix the sheer paint with a thick pigment in order to mask it too!!❤
With winsor and newton its very pigmented and very long lasting so you can work in one layer with all the details you want . But its a little hassle of a blending which may result in unsoften edge and too much colour contrast that just looks stifff and stuck ( way too much vibrance of colour somtimes turn off the story of the painting and it starts looking like a painting and not a story trapped in painting anymore)

I hope you read this and try this technique where you mix sheer and opaque to create your very own opacity of colour and versatility

I hope it helps ❤😊

The brush shaper is actually a brush cleaner, thats its intended use and it does it splendidly
Also, you're not supposed to use sharpeners for charcoal, you're supposed to use a blade and sandpaper
You'd probably regret them less if you'd ever been told their correct use, which unfortunately, is a fate a lot of products go through

It'd be cool to see a video where you use only the regret products! It would use them up and also be a neat challenge.

Sharpen the charcoal pencils with a knife! Charcoal is brittle and breaks when using a sharpener more often than when you use a knife

Not my inner child begging for her to peel off the dried paint 😭

Winsor and Newton is my go-to brand for all their art supplies, it’s all super high quality and decently affordable

For the streaky paints u can mix corn starch with the paint to make it thicker. It works so good.
