Thank you, I have taken the decision to eliminate my relationship with Xanax, we have a 20 year relationship. Wish me success

I think the biggest risk factor for addiction and dependence is having a severe panic disorder. People who feel normal will be very disappointed as this drug is not euphoric. It simply dampens down the fight or flight response, which is what makes it so appealing to panic and anxiety sufferers!

Thank you for educating us on Benzos without demonizing it. It’s just like alcohol; abuse it and you can get into trouble. It’s the only thing that really works for extreme anxiety/panic attacks

I had to detox from long term(15 years) of klonazepam use on my own. The VA hospital would not give me a bed. At the time there was only a single website with information on detoxing from benzos. There were a few message boards, all with the theme, "I'm going to smoke so much weed during those 2 weeks." Later I found out that I could have died from a seizure during my detox. It's important to spread awareness, especially when you consider what happened with opiates. Medical school were teaching doctors how to prescribe opiates, then(for some unknown reason, wink) they stopped.

I’ve been on Xanax for 7 years now, been the same dose and it literally changed my life for the better. I have panic attacks all day constantly, when I started Xanax it made me feel like a normal person, I’m able to get out of my house, go to store, hangout with my friends again. You guys just push the worst part of the drug because there are to many people with addictive personality.. you make people who actually need it feel like there losers.

I have been on Ativan 3mg daily for over 20 years. Same does, same time every day. I would like to eventually lower my does to 2 mg. But my anxiety and depression is so debilitating at times. I’ve been dealing with us since my 20s, and I am 50 now. I am currently in the process of a medication change, due to a diagnosis of POTS Ugg!!

Very informative. I like clinical data presented in common-day term. It shows that you are well versed in the subject matter, and are able to communicate it in a way that we who are not, can comprehend said subject matter. Thank You.

Xanax is not the only benzo that damages you. All of them are dangerous. I've been stuck on them for over 10 years now and having a hard time getting off.

edit: Sorry but always had a script

Thank you Dr for your explanation of the use of Xanax. Im 50ish and I've been on Xanax for a while. I have severe anxiety due to post traumatic stress and have tried so many different meds that my psychiatrist has tried and I'm going to be honest nothing works I don't like the feeling of marijuana even the chewables Etc. But I seem to handle my anxiety along with the Xanax, seeing a therapist for many years now and with the help of my psychiatrist it all seems to form together and helps. I do not have the history of drug addiction I don't drink alcohol except back in my teens years only because I had a father who was an alcoholic ( recovering 28 years prior to his passing) and I've seen the hell and how it destroyed my family so I have stayed away from that. I don't do any type of drugs other than medications for my diabetes and heart problems and the Xanax. I always watch your Channel and I appreciate all that you do for putting information out there for all to learn. I've been a practicing RN for 32 years now and I know I've looked into Johns Hopkins and Hartford journals in reference to Xanax. I keep on top of it myself as well as from my psychiatrist but sometimes I feel like they're trying to push me to get off it and again throughout the past few years I have tried so many different types of meds and again they just don't help me even with my therapist and my psychiatrist. I feel xanax really does help and I would never think to take more than what my psychiatrist tells me and how she tells me so again thank you..

Really intrigued to hear more about the Xanax/Dementia connection. Would also like to hear more about other drugs that can spur confusion, memory issues, dementia, etc.

Thank you I have been waiting on this video. I have seizures because of Xanax and I'm so scared I'm never going to get off of it and not to many Dr prescribed this medication anymore.

I have severe panic attacks that last several days sometimes and then I throw up because the anxiety and panic is so bad and then I have to go to the ER to get fluids and it’s just a never ending cycle and Xanax is the only thing that helps me because it’s the strongest thing there is nothing else that works. I don’t care about the breathing exercises and whatever other stuff I’ve tried it nothing helps. I have deep, deep, horrific trauma that I do not want to talk about on a public platform, my big question is, if not Xanax, what am I supposed to take because it’s the only thing that helps me and then I’m in constant fear that the doctors are going to take it away from me which just leaves me with suicidal thoughts because I have severe trauma, and when I’m panicking it’s truly terrifying. Please help.

I take it, but only every once it a while if I really have a bad night. Not on a regular basis. Is that ok?
