My Parents Allow Me To Do Everything I Want

I woke up to my phone ringing. I had binge-watched a show on Netflix until the early morning. I was so sleepy. I pulled the comforter over my head and tried to go back to sleep. But my phone had no intention of quieting down. I forced open my eyes half-way and reached over to see who was calling. It was my best-friend Lucy. She wanted to do a video call.

i understand why her parents don't have any rules i mean look at her she knows what she wants and she is responsible for what she is doing and knows what's good or wrong for her

I was 50:50 growing up. My mom made sure I followed strict rules, whereas my dad let me have freedom. My mom taught me how to stay alive and my dad taught me how to enjoy life. Childhood wasn’t that good, but my adult life is going great. I believe they raised me well.

My parents gave me freedom.
And I never misused it.
I also never need permission to go somewhere I tell them and that's it.
They never refrain me from eating anything I grew up learning from my mistakes.
And I actually a good person I eat healthy.I have a healthy habits
My parents have good habit and they are good person I grew up watching them.
When I visit my relative they literally told me to ask me for permission to go anywhere even I can't go to movie alone and that cringed me.
I am very proud of my parents I can totally relate with this video even 2-3 of my friends stopped hanging with me coz I use to wear western clothes.
I use to roam around whenever I got bored some people even complained to my parents back then about my clothes and roaming
But still my parents never stopped me from anything.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I really can relate to this. My parents never had any rules but they always made sure that I know what I should do and what I shouldn’t do

Depending on the responsibility, I'd say it's freedom with discipline.

I really agree that kids should not get punished for the smallest mistakes

I agree with Daphne that rules depends on strictness to feel like prison or not 75% of rules are like prison, the remaining 25% is what you should establish on yourself and being helpless isn't equal to being controllable and subordinate, don't psychologically imprison children because assumed inexperience in children, do they remember when they're fetuses that kicks their mom's stomach? No. But they did that, so babies have experience after all, but very few compared to adults. The exact reason why parents enforce rules onto children? Cuz parents were entitled to enforce and push their own experience onto children and if children don't play along, they get punished because disobedience,
Having no home rules ≠ Spoiling
And everyone have rights on freedom, including children!

To be honest, I disagree with her parents letting her go places by herself. That’s really dangerous to just let a kid going somewhere with no supervision

I’m half and half with this. My parents gave me rules/curfews and I would respect them and the next week they would up my curfew because they trusted I respected them. I now live a life with piercing and tattoos, go out when I want. I didn’t have rules in terms of what I ate or when etc and this was normal for me. I think no rules is not right but too many rules is just as damaging!

This is a good point to bring up, No rule = no PUNISHMENTS.

Honestly, you convinced me 95%, kids are young they shouldn’t be stressed all the time. I remember when one of my friends got depressed in school because he was to stress, and kids should be learning by their mistakes they shouldn’t go deeper into a punishment.

I am so jealous of her, I hope that when I have kids to be like her parents and for my kid to be like her

Kids should learn from their mistakes instead of getting punished, but on the other hand, it is good to have boundaries for your own well-being.

I agree parents can’t control what we do but the only rule I dont support is the one where the parents don’t know where their child is what if she is in trouble but the parents just think she’s probably having a sleepover or something

Not every kid has the same motive and intention as you. There are kids who do bad and learn- very very few. There are others who just keep thinking "this thing is cool" and keep doing it.

Daphne, your story is true and so full of potential. I don’t know 🤷‍♀️ how long children live in a house 🏡 with rules but as for me, that changes whenever you want to move out and live on your own. That’s why I’m going to be moving out and live with no rules in my house because the only rules I live by are the 10 commandments set by God that I always obey.

I watched another story from this channel and there also was a girl with zero rules, but her parents were raised very strictly.
