The boxes for the room it belongs in sounds brilliant! You are absolutely correct moving locations is the definite sidetrack.

I kinda like my haphazard way of cleaning. Yes, I do often walk in to a room and find a chore I forgot half finished, but as long as I keep my side quest under the heading of cleaning, at the end of the day, everything will be done. Just not in a logical order for someone watching the process. I think not being allowed to leave a room would get to frustrating for me. ❤️

It also helps to have such a huge space. That kitchen is the size of my kitchen AND living room put together. Coping with mess overwhelm is not as easy for people who live in smaller spaces, especially if they don't have the financial means to easily replace things that are often suggested to toss because we're acutely aware of the fact that we will be screwed if we need said items in a month when there's no money to buy them again.

To me it would be really helpful if anybody from my family believed that adhd exists

YES! "dont put it down, put it away" is how we spend 3 hours on a 10 min task, dont finish and end up even more overwhelmed. a lot of nt tips are. i also like boxes for general clutter, and if i hadnt touched it in a while i know i can sort some stuff to get rid of. i label with tape like "desk" "counter", etc to know where it came from

The Dana K White method works better for me, but to each their own! Do whatever works for you. ❤ If I used boxes then I would just end up with boxes full of stuff and never put them away.

Sometimes giving to many tips to an ADHD person is a big problem, cause is difficult for us follow steps and it can give us anxiety. We 're creative so we always find a way to clean and tidy. In other words, we don't fit in regular recipes, but we create our own ways.

This is brilliant, especially the advice not to leave the room 😍 I will start with my bedroom tomorrow 💪🏻👩🏻 But I need bigger boxes for the other rooms - my apartment is a complete mess at present 😅

When I was a kid, I would easily get overwhelmed over a little clutter/mess spread out all over my room. But if I grabbed everything that wasn't in it's right place, and put it all on my bed, I could more easily sort everything out. I also couldn't sleep/relax until I was done, because everything was on my bed :)

I'm sorry so many people are discounting your idea. usually everybody says the same ideas. It's always the same old thing of have a box to keep, donate, and sell. In addition to getting sidetracked by going into another room, it also flares up my pain to go back and forth.
