Thanks Nena, I also find that I can go clutter blind😂so it helps to me notice clutter if I take a photograph. It usually looks far worse and motivates me to organise and tidy the area. It feels good to take a before and an after photo too as a reward and relax with a nice beverage afterwards.

My solution for cleaning :
1) Huge tip : if you can afford it, get a cleaning lady 4 hours a week even if you live by yourself. Don't be embarrased, just do it.

I am a very slow person. Ive always been teased (lovingly) by family & friends bc it takes me so long to accomplish anything. When it is done, it is perfect/beautiful/etc., but actually getting there... i get frustrated with myself for so many other things as well-disorganization, remembering anything, from where i put something to the schedule for the day. Ive always thought im just a real scatterbrain. I struggled to read at first, but once i got it, i did great on school, never had trouble sitting, so id never considered that i might actually have ADHD until recently. I wouldnt say it is severe, but i actually said "yup!" To every single thing you listed at the beginning of this video! Several of your tips ive actually already implemented (yay!) & i even just asked my husband this morning (before finding your video) for clear storage bins!! Thank you for these tips. Its great to realize that its not just me being a lazy person, im not alone, & there are ways to help me live better while understanding how my brain works! This has bern a blessing! ~Liz

Something I say that I think many ADHD'ers can relate to is, "for a lazy person I sure do a lot of moving around!"

ie, im not lazy; WE are not lazy, we are disorganized ❤

I love the way she presents this as if she suffers with the same issues. She may or may not, either way she is very supportive and never judgmental or condemning! ❤💯

My solution for the kitchen :
1) Huge tip : if you only have room for a washer or dishwasher ==> install the dishwasher. Otherwise you have to do dishes 3 times a day, and we all know, we ADD/ADHD are NOT going to do that. We will however go once every 2 weeks to the laundromat.
2) only have dishes readily available that will go into your dishwasher. Keep the other dishes stored outside your kitchen and get them out when you have company. For my 2 people househould this means 4 small plates, 4 large plates, 4 deep plates, 4 bowls, 4 glasses, 4 cups, 6 forks/knives, little and big spoons. They are all stored next to the dishwasher.

3) only have kitchen applicances that you use weekly in your kitchen. Store the other applicances outside your kitchen. (cupboard, garage, cellar ... think to sell them for e few years before actually posting them on facebook marketplace 🙂)
4) Run your dishwasher : if you are alone ==> every two days, if you are more ==> every day, even if it is not full. I put my pots and pans also in the dishwasher without a problem.
5) only get 1 food item as a spare. eg I have 1 tin of deca coffee that I use and 1 in the pantry for if I run out. When I get the one in the pantry, only then I will buy a new one to replace it.
6) I do grocery shopping twice a week. On Wednesday to have food until Saterday and on Saturday to have food until next wednesday. Only having to foresee breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for 3 to 3 days is manageable to me. I have been less wastefull of food since I started this. No there is not a day missing 🙂 - I know we will have at least 1 day where we will have take away or eat out.

I’m surprised you didn’t talk about visual clutter. My house feels a lot more peaceful after slowly decluttering the last two years. I have more space in cupboards and drawers to put things away. So it’s easy to put things away.

Thank you so much for this beautiful video!❤ I have suspected for at least 20 years that I had ADHD. I continue to struggle with disorganization and clutter. I can organize things very well, but can't maintain it. I start so many projects that never get completed. I feel so overwhelmed. Your helpful tips and suggestions have given me hope, and the motivation to get started again.

A great video! Some of my best hacks are instead of bins for clothes that pile up, I have the over-the-door hooks in my bathroom and bedroom. Before, I used to place them on a surface, or if in a bin, they'd get wrinkled. It's just as easy to hang it on the hook, and then when I get to it, I put it where it's supposed to go. I also have a nice-looking bench from amazon with coat hanger hooks. On those hooks I hang my purse, keys, coat, etc. I put nice wicker baskets- 3 matching ones below. I fed an extension cord through one and it houses all my chargers/ is my charging station. Another bin is extra cords and chargers I find all around that I don't know what they belong to. On the bench, I have a beautiful canvas box that houses all my bills to be paid. It does have a lid but as soon as I get the mail I toss all the junk and ads, then set the mail on top of the box. Once a week or so I open the mail and put the bills in the box. My husband deals with the bills and he knows he needs to keep up on the box. I also ruthlessly purge every couple of months. Right now I'm going room by room each week and getting rid of anything I do not use. You could NEVER call me a minimalist but I call my style cozy minimalism lol. I need things to look beautiful and nice. I invested in very nice couch pillows from Pottery Barn, 2 very nice throw blankets on my sectional. I have a couple of candles and a few plants but the area rugs and textures from paintings and furniture give it style without any knick-knacks. I have "rules" for myself like the kitchen must be clean before bed, and the kitchen table cleared. Like you said about dishes getting out of hand, it paralyzes me. Waking up to it clean I actually cook breakfast and clean up after. Also making the bed. I don't commit to anything else, it just comes.

I finally created and succeeded in the habit of going straight to my closet when I’m home-I put away my shoes, I fold what can be reworn into a cubby, dirty goes into laundry basket, in winter coat gets hung up. It’s the only habit I’m maintaining but now I have no pile of shoes in the entryway or random clothes in other areas like I once did.

All these were very helpful tips and advice thank you so much. My problem is, I feel like Ive heard and know of all of this before. Its like I already know the solutions to my problems but I still cant make them happen. A visual would help SO MUCH. Like seeing in a video examples of what you are talking about, would help me tremendously to bring that into my home.

Your video has lots of good points. I was diagnosed with ADD when I was 41. I started watching videos about decluttering & minimalism a couple of years ago. I had been working on decluttering my home for several months when I came across Dana K. White's No Mess decluttering method....and it changed my life! It actually helps me to be effective in my decluttering and has changed the way I view everything I am thinking of bringing into my home. Dana hasn't been formally diagnosed with ADD or ADHD, but she says she's had tons of people tell her THEY have and using her method is the only way they've been able to make progress in their homes. Please check it out and see for yourself if her method doesn't make total sense. Thank you for your time!

I have severe ADHD. In addition, about 3 years ago we had to have all our floors pulled up and several rooms had water damage. During any type of mold mediation, you must be out of the house. The crew seemed wonderful because they were gonna pack everything up. OMG- WORST decision of my life. Its been 3 years and i still have 12 -15 boxes i've not opened because im afraid I'll want to keep the items and my house borders on hoarding. I am so overwhelmed and depressed and guilt ridden over the state of my home. Most times I start to clean, but then am distracted by "oooh, I forgot I had this" mindset. Even though i have 6 adult children, I have no help. My husband is a collector. OMG. There is a fine line between collecting and hoarding, but there is definitely a difference. But then, his stuff is STUFF and my stuff is crap/junk/3 of everything because i lose things all the time. Ok...I'll stop.

I try not to use bins that are opaque. If I can’t see something, I forget where or what is there. So bins with lids must be clear.

WOW! There are other people like me? Thank you, you described me 100%. My daughter-in-law said to clean something every time I get up. That has worked, but still deciding to start doing it at that time. This is so hard! I had to work in a factory doing repeatative, for a short. I cannot do that. I going around doing other people’s work to keep from having to do only one thing. Thank you this has helped me a lot 😊

Thank you so much for this video. On another humorous note for my fellow ADHDers how many of you watched this on double speed? I watch almost all of my YouTube videos this way😂
