8 Things Nobody Told Me Before Moving To ABQ 18 years ago ( some good, some bad )

1. The wind, the constant wind - make it stop!
2. How far behind the schools are; my kids were advanced about 2 grades ahead.
3. People generally very friendly - except workplaces can be kinda cutthroat.
4. Rude drivers e.g.: cars will speed up towards you when making a left-hand, cross traffic turn. Cost of auto insurance is very high here - no wonder 1 out of every 3 cars on the road aren't insured.
5. 300+ days of Sunshine can get really boring.
6. Housing/Rents seem really high for what you get.
7. Food, utilities and other expenses seem reasonably priced.
8. An HOA is must if you want to retain & have your home appreciate in value.

About the trade route: are you talking about the Camino Real?

Also, thanks for doing these videos. I’m still about a year out from making the move out there, but I’ll definitely hit you up when I’m 3 months out.

Finally, I have to chuckle every time I see that footage of the Taylor Ranch Library and park, but it is such a great shot. 😄

Thanks for the videos. A comment here about the wind. Seems pretty calm during your video. I've been considering moving to Amarillo and allegedly, the wind is virtually non-stop and often times brutal. Sand storms, tornados, hail storms, and the smell of feed lots are all too common there. I lived 12 years in the high plains of Wyoming so I'm pretty tolerant to less than ideal weather but, I'm looking for a moderate temp area with low humidity. If I can minimize the weather threats, I'd prefer to. How would you sum up the weather in Albuquerque?

It's not "should of", it's "should've" which is a contraction for "should have".
