I rescued my Jack russell when he was 6 years old. He was a lover and a lap dog. He had a fenced in back yard. And he loved laying out in the sun. He followed me every where. He came down with cushings disease when he was about 12. He had 4 pomeranian brothers and sisters. He barked alot but he let the others know I was his. He lived to 18 and had dementia so bad, , but I played doggie music for his anxiety and he slept next to me until it was so bad I had to make the ultimate decision to let him go. I miss him so much!!😪😪😪😭😭😭

I had a jack for 18 years, l had him from 6 weeks old. The best dog l ever had. I trained him very well first 2 years, after that he never had a lead from then on . He was my little boy, his name was Stimpy, he went everywhere l went, he never left my right leg. He was very fit, he died because he had a stroke, it was so sudden. I still cry every day, he was my little boy, l miss him so much.

When people meet Oscar they say “Oh! He’s so cute!” My response is “He is…..until he’s not.” 😂 JRT, all heart and soul.

Former goober owner, his name was Cooper.
-You can't tell your terrier to respect someone, that person has to earn it. All I could ever do was teach guests to grow a spine, or he'd walk all over them. He could hear the sincerity in your voice when you said, 'no'. If you don't know how to say 'no' like you mean it, you'll be his tennis ball launcher for the next 18 hours.
-Absolutely not a lap dog. Lap sitting was a shallow pretext to play. He'd lie on you with his eyes open, heart racing, and the second your hand touched him he was on his feet ready to play some game.
-He was the best dog I had as a boy, and I had 4 before moving out. I think I got him when I was 8, and people always said Cooper and I were the same being, in different bodies. He kept me out of the house, he taught me about respect and determination, how hard work can be a love language, how to stick up for yourself no matter the difference in power, etc. That dog was a little champion. He wasn't disrespectful, he had high expectations of you, and did the dog version of scoffing at your bad attitude. We all need to be a bit more like terriers. They know a human's potential better than most humans.

I had a mixed JRT but she was quite a hoot! When she was younger i could not keep up with her... Sadly, after 18 years, she gave it up this last week, and i sure miss her! Godspeed Kendra!

Omg all these wonderful comments about JRT 's. I adopted a senior girl last year and she is the subshine in my day. Love is not strong enough to described how I feel about her. We bonded straight away and she has been loyal from day one. So clever and intelligent, kind and sweet natured. Best decision I every made. ❤️ ❤❤❤

Just got my first JRT after years of wanting one. My daughter got one as well, so the brothers keep each other worn out with constant play, then when they're pooped out, they come looking for a lap to snooze on. Such gorgeous dogs!

I loved my two Jack Russells so very much. They were so fun - I threw the ball for them until my arm gave out. They did a tag team with the ball. They made up that game by themselves at the dog park. They were very social and nice dogs.

They are pretty energetic, wonderful dogs. They can be pretty mellow… when they are very tired!
Really they are good little characters!

I had three jr’s and if you’re an absolute leader you don’t get these problems. I walked mine off lead every where. Never had growling or barking issues. Brought up with the kids. Fantastic dogs. Tenacious ability and loving. I adore them.

Nailed it. My dog would rarely cuddle but ocassionally. very independent. I never initiated play time she always beat me too it. One thing she was good about she never tore anything up that wasn't hers. Never a dull moment with her, she was always interesting. Caught a rabbit once even on a leash. Lived to be 18 years old. I really miss her.

No one owns a Jack Russel. They own you. Or at least they think they do.

I must have had 2 Jacks that didn't read this list. My late Jack LC was a complete cuddler and snuggler, as is my current Jack Sadie. Totally clingy to both my husband and myself.
