To avoid any confusion:
When he says "bad frequencies" he means frequencies that r too much in this vocal. Dont take it as "these frequencies r ALWAYS bad".

So the first little EQing you did was completely useless when u compress the whole sound right afterwards... A better way would be to use a dynamic EQ for this purpose imo
