🤔 How do I know when to compress something?

🤝🏻 When compression is done correctly, it can really glue a mix, or parts of a mix together

👂🏼 Listen carefully, and you'll hear that without compression the drums sound overloaded and a bit all over the place

🥁 But once you glue them together with the compression it will make it sound like one singular drum loop

👌🏼 It's subtle, but it makes a difference when you get to the rest of the mix

If it's hard to notice. Pay attention to lo quieter sounds like background sounds and cymbals.

enabled is about 1 dB louder though. always match gain as you often say!

I listen to this more than 10 time and i didn't hear any difference more than a lil gain. so to a normal music listener it doesn't matter much, which means we doesn't have to be too technical

had the api2500 but did not like it on the mix bus got rid of it and got a dangerous compressor instead

My ears are trained but the average consumer really wouldn't understand what to listen out for . Not only is there glue here, but there's also better rhythm, excitement and more. The changes are more dramatic than you would think Especially, if you plan on adding vocals/instruments.
