civil engineer here, these waterways have all kinds of danger. It can split into smaller branches your raft can't enter and water flow will push you deeper in, it can have vertical drops that is completely filled with water. It also frequently have steel bars at entrance or exits to prevent bears and animals from entering. Where you will be trapped and wouldn't get out until decomposes enough to be washed out between the bars

WOW these guys are so lucky. Sometimes these tunnels lead to a 100ft underground drop called a basin which its job is to fill up to the top to control water flow, you fall in that and no-one will ever see you again.

I know two people who died in a drainage/sewer pipe just like this. The bars kept them from exiting, and the current was too strong for them too get out. They found them clutched together embracing one another as they drowned. The most sad thing I have ever seen. DO NOT DO THIS
