Pro tip: just take the powdered sugar that the shady guy offers you in an alleyway.

so to build muscle and lose fat, you need to:
-Calorie deficit
-Eat enough protein(i think it's 0.8-1g/lbs of bodyweight)
-Consistently training close to failure and do progressive overload(increase weight or reps)
and most importantly, just fucking wait

I needed this. I'm not fat but I want to lose 10 to 15 pounds and go back down to 150-160 range. To be matched with fighters more my build. I want to be sub 20% body fat and I'm trying not to obsess over the number

Thank you, the truth is so much more simple than these programs and stuff. It’s really refreshing to hear you break it down for us like this.

Sean is one the very best. My favorite because there’s no BS, click bait for views or gimmicks. True experience and great info as always with a dash of burning influencers time to time. 💪🏼👊🏼🙌🏼

The difficulty in both at the same time is getting in a good workout while in a calorie deficit. Even just a 500cal deficit can make you feel like you want to go easier than last time.

I’m currently 190lbs, was 215lbs around a year ago. I believe I’ve slowly lost fat and gained muscle over the year. I’m not a beginner and I wasn’t super overweight but definitely was slightly, I think it’s possible if you train hard and eat right. Definitely better to focus solely on a calorie surplus though if
You want to make real gains

Yes you can. 8 months in now and my love handles and belly are now a 4/6 pack and muscles larger. I haven't been on a crazy diet just cut out the junk and stayed hydrated aswel as working out every 2 days.

generally (as he mentioned): protein+muscle stimulus= muscle growth, calorie deficit=weight loss, proper nutrients=improved overall health; intermittent fasting (mainly skipping b-fast) was the biggest tool for my weight loss

This clears up some things for me, I am 30lbs overweight because I stopped doing sports and lifting. One thing that's been discouraging is that I feel like I have a late start, everyone around me is in the best shape of their lives and meanwhile I struggle to put on meaningful gains. I'm gonna go back to the gym today 🏋️‍♂️💪💪💪

Weight lifting is one of the BEST ways to improve your health if you're significantly overweight. I've lost 30 pounds since May and have gained sugnificant muscle mass. While I'm in a calorie deficit, my muscles don't know it since I'm insultated in a calorie surplus, lol. I focus mainly on meeting protein needs, eating clean with meat, fruits, and veggies, and getting in my 6 day push/pull/legs schedule. And I'm 46 with HBP/diabetes/degenerative arthiritis. All of this improved within a month if making the change.

Thanks for the content. This is one of my favorites for quality workout tips.

I am 6’0”, 155 lbs, 11% body fat. I’m very happy where I am at, however I do usually go up or down in weight depending on what I’m doing more of. If I run say 30 miles per week, I’m usually on the lighter side. If I cut mileage and stick to more resistance training sessions, I’ll be a little heavier (slightly more fat and slightly more muscle). It just depends how I’m feeling and what brings me most joy for that week.
