Using fins kick 6-12 times on your back with shoulders flat and one arm raised to 12’ o clock. After the 6-12 kicks hyper extend that arm as high as you can rotating the shoulders so they are stacked for another 6-12 kicks then repeat.
Most backstrokers don’t rotate enough that causes all sorts of problems in their technique. Once a swimmer rotates in backstroke they not only get more coupling energy from the recovery but they are set up for a powerful and efficient pull with a bent elbow.
