How do we exactly understand which graph is above and which is below? Sometimes you can't say it just looking at the graphs. Is there any way to find out?

Ouch! well I found a possible start to answer this. let R = radius of meadow and r = radius of chain.

(1/2)πR² =

Now solve for r numerically if given R. Source Wolfram MathWorld Circle-Circle Intersection. There is an example for this problem where R=1 and little r comes to 0.8079455... on the page.

Can you give me a solution for the following problem: a goat can eat 1/2 of a round meadow The goat is connected with a chain at a point on the edge of the meadow. How long is the chain ?
This problem haunts me for decades !!
I can find a solution but it gives me an equation I can't solve.

Is there any possible way to quickly determine the intersections between curves so to know the limits of the integrand without using any graphical calculator??

If you didn't have the bounds...can you set f (x) = g (x) to find them? I just started Calculus 2. Doing homework lol.

I have a question. Why did you rearrange the formula to, (rootx-x^2)?, why not the other way round like, (X^2-rootX)???. This is where I sometimes lose marks because I rearrange them wrongly. So what's the logic behind re arranging them the correct way?

reply to rhoadess:your solution is for 2 equal circles but the circle of the goat must be bigger dan "1".
