Man, how did you guys trick Kyle into coming back for an entire show about future product? 🤣 Nice to see the band back together though 👍

Tom’s adapter comments are spot on. I chatted with a nice guy at a V2 Tesla Supercharger trying to use a j1772 adapter with his Bolt. First, people keep stating Superchargers are open to other vehicles. The problem is there are tons of V2 superchargers that will never work. Nothing is labeled on the charger and not everyone will know. Then add on AC vs DC adapters and there will be a lot of confusion. Please speak with your manufacturer contacts about better communication.

Regarding the need for fast charging: I'm on my third EV and I take almost monthly medium range trips (200-300 miles one way). None of my EVs charge faster than 150kW. I'm doing fine.

If I didn't have a home charger, I'd definitely be buying a different EV.

Any chance you could put in chapters for this podcast please?

Looking forward to seeing the Porsche's 718 EV in 2025 and BMW's M3 EV in late 2026. Might take a 2nd gen of these before they can compete with ICE Caymans and M2/M3's.

Home and work charging. We cannot build out hundreds of thousands of multi million dollar DC fast charging sites to support apartment dwellers. We need to adapt at the source for this transition to continue.

We NEED hundreds of thousands of 80 amp AC units scattered across the nation, to include workplace and residential locations.

Hyundai updated the estimated 10-80% charge time for the 2025 version of the Ioniq 5 from 18 minutes up to 20 minutes. The extra 2 minutes are likely due to the larger battery. Officially, Hyundai says 25 minutes on 400v, so that's only 5 minutes different. Not that bad of a trade-off like Tom was saying.

So many folks in the Ioniq 5 subreddit are obsessed with getting NACS. I get that it's better long term, but I agree it's premature. CCS with an adapter and just having Superchargers available as a bailout is going to be the most ideal setup for high voltage cars for at least the next 5 years. IMO the rear wiper is a much more important improvement.

And kudos to Kia/Hyundai for pushing to NACS first. At least this tells the industry to expedite the push for a single standard. The sooner the better, and the sooner we can eliminate the adaptor expectation.

We love our Equinox EV and our biggest issue with it is the slow DC chargers in our Eastern provinces here in Canada. Mostly charge at home and that gets us to most places and back on day trips. Infrastructure is the biggest issue.

I know it's not coming to the US, but no mention of the Renault 5? That hot hatch looks sick.

My day one reserved Polestar 4 was scheduled to arrive here in Portland in March when I canceled back in November.

Originally January. Pushed back to April. Then forward to March.

Great walk thru 🙌 Looking forward to the new BMW lineup.. Looks promising. But the 2025 highlight for me will be the Volvo ES90 launch.. Really hope it delivers! Will also be cool to see the new EX30 Cross Country. Not sure if you will get that version in the US from launch or not..

I was surprised to see you didn't mention Vinfast. They expect to launch the VF6 and VF7 this year. Maybe even the VF3 as well.

When announced, I was really looking forward to the Fisker Pear to come out about now. Amazing how much can happen in a year!

The one we really need is the Kia EV3, The KIA NERO is OK but the EV3 should offer slightly more value to give peole a real alternative in the 300 mile range sub 35, 000 price cateory
besdies base Tesla's, The 2026 Chevy Bolt was going to fit that niche, but it seems it's future is still being decided, and it's not looking good, but by August 2025, the comitte in charge of the EV credits fate, will be finished with the negotation's on this topic, according to my sources,
