Sin means redefining our bad decisions as good

The word "sin" means missing the goal of loving God and people. Sin leads us to deceive ourselves. And in the Bible, when people are failing at loving God, they often think they are succeeding.

*shudder* that is very good to know… and I can relate all too well. For 9 years I was trapped in sin… even after a crisis of faith 6 years in where God spoke to me, I only wound up paring back.

As it is now, I’ve still abandoned the majority of those deeds that led to sin, and I see that place as the God-denying cesspit it truly was. And yet the urges and desires He made me with still remain, and I’ve turned to a form of those actions - a form that denies *anything* that is sinful, including turning to them too often - as a means of release.

I still hope and pray that I’m not deceiving myself, that I’m not trying to hold on to one of the great false joys from my fallen youth. I’ve asked family to pray for me, and while I don’t have many Christian friends… can I ask that you pray for me too?

Sin literally means “missing the mark”. Anything that causes us to be imperfect is a sin. Representing a perfect God with anything less than perfect is a sin.
