Scotty, mean this from the bottom of my heart man. You have taught me so much on how to do stuff myself that otherwise couldn't have been done. You have saved me so much money that has gone to feeding my family and keeping the lights on, instead of to service shops. I thank you for all the advise, how to's, and the confidence you have helped me gain. Would love to use some of the money saved to buy you a beer some day. Cheers mate ! -Mike

It's all Scotty

Thanks, dude.

@MoneyMarcMes I use stuff I've gotten over the years. Snap On is just a rip off company now, overpriced and most of their stuff is now made in China too. Scotty

Just replaced the power steering unit on my 87 s10 blazer. The pulley / installer tool is a must as you can't get to the mounting bolts with the pulley attached. I was surprised that you didn't address the need to flush the old fluid from the system prior to installing and filling the reservoir again. Love your videos.

This guy is king. I followed his advice on replacing a master cylinder. He cuts to the chase and does not annoy with yada, yada, yada, as in other shop videos.

I totally love this dude. He is so optimistic and straightforward, he really gets me into a positive mood, I watched all his videos, although I'm not very much into cars and mechanics. I like his style, he totally rulz over cars. I even try to imitate his accent when I do some small maintenance to my VW Golf. I live in rural France, in Europe, and lately I use the phrase "nice and snug", when I tight some bolts back on.

@Rookerfy sure, could even have been a blocked pressure hose, But it wasn't. This fixed it.

I love how old school he is. Calling the serpentine belt a fan belt made me smile. It hasn't been a fan belt in 25 years. I love that. And this man is so knowledgeable. If he says something is right then it's right and if he says something is wrong then it's wrong. This man has been working on cars longer than most of us have been alive. I don't know that that's true about me because I'm 42 years old but still he's been doing this so long that he could probably do it in his sleep.

Your videos are the best I have seen. The same troubleshooting issues are the same on the 2002 Ford Taurus SE. When I jacked up the car. I noticed black residue of power steering fluid beneath my vehicle near the right wheel on passenger side and not on the driver's side right below where the pump sits. I want to make sure that is the pump and not a bad power steering hose leak before working on it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond. I took my replacement rebuilt back to Autozone and they replaced it, no problem...I'm almost done with installing the replacement of the replacement...fingers crossed...eyes, too... I do NOT want to hear that groaning again...if I do, then I'm gonna take it personal.. :-)

@arkansawpunker there are no pulleys on electrical power steering, just electrical assist motors, compltely different

Whenever introducing air into the power steering system like this, you just lift the front of the vehicle on Jack stands and with the car off, key on, rotate the steering wheel lock to lock to bleed the air out before starting it.

I bleed them with another re manufacturer power pump and works perfectly fine. :). really smooth now no more groaning. Thanks a lot scotty.

What's the chance! I go looking for a video on how to replace a CTS-V1 power steering pump but settled for this less specific video. And lo' and behold your fixing the power steering on a CTS-V by chance! What are the odds!

try the flush and new fancy german fluid, and PRAY. Cause those pumps are crap and go out all the time, I've changed a bunch out. They don't make mercs like they used to.
