The magic of Joe Abercrombie. "Man, I miss that mass murderer guy. He is so great."

Never heard anyone mispronounce Hercule Poirot so spectacularly!🤪

Castor Morveer was the favourite character in this book for me. He just seemed such a dangerous guy, everytime he was in a scene i had a feeling someone is going to die. People would just sit in a room talking and it was enough for me to feel the tension that Morveer created.

into the description the video track now adds chapter breaks to the video itself, but you need the 0:00 so it knows to do it, or it wont show.

Can't wait to see your reviews of the other standalone Joe Abercrombie books :)

Also, yes. Friendly does show up again :D

Poor Mr Poirot. Don't worry, he complains about people not pronouncing his name right in every book. The mistake is usually Hercules, so points for originality!

"The Murder of Roger Ackroyd" is another Hercule Poirot story by Agatha Christie which is pretty great & is possibly my favourite mystery book of all time.

Friendly shows up in Red Country, and has POVs in Sharp Ends.

SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

I absolutely loved the ending! One of my personal favorite "things" (I don't know if it is a trope or what) is stories ending where they began. Shivers was changed by the end, but not in the way he expected. He was exactly the same man. Now he just accepted it.

I HIGHLY recommend listening to Abercrombie's books on audible along with the physical.

Best Served Cold is Abercrombie's masterpiece in my opinion. Spread the word of his greatness, the more people reading his books the better!

Abercrombie's standalones are absolutely masterful. Best Served Cold, The Heroes, and Red Country are truly achievements in genre blending. And they are so different from each other too. For me, they are much better than The First Law trilogy. And they sort of form a trilogy of their own, though very loosely connected.

If you were a bit bored with the middle of Hercule Poirot’s Christmas, I recommend for you to read Death On the Nile. Although it’s a bit long for a mystery, to me, the entire book pulled me from start to finish and never let go, with plot points merging together in a beautiful way.

Shivers’ first appearance back in Before They are Hanged:
“There was a man sitting on a fallen tree ten strides away, lying besides a thick branch, hands clasp behind his head, stretched out like he was near asleep. He had long black hair hanging on his face, but one eye peered out at the Dogman watchful.”

Upon rereading I caught more than a few nice little bits like this. BSC was for a long time my fav FL book, but recently The Trouble With Peace topped it. Even saying that, there’s good arguments that Abercrombie gets better with each book in the series.

I LOVED the ending ftr. #TeamShenkt
