When we constantly sweat the small stuff it has implications on our happiness, the quality of our relationships and, if we aren’t careful, it can even impact the outcome of really important decisions... like choosing where to invest our money or deciding if you should take that job in a new city. Let’s talk about decision fatigue and how it might be ruining your life.

I'm still always blown away by the cinematography on this channel, Matt is in another league.

Decision fatigue is clearly an important factor in this collective mental breakdown that we're experiencing. But, in my opinion, the biggest factor is the overstimulation of our brains, not just decision, but all the incredibly irrelevant information that we're subjected at all times. It's interesting to see this overstimulation in an era that thinks so little.

Matt's sense of humor as its finest lately. I laughed a lot with this one.

I always come back to this channel (and have done for years) whenever i'm struggling to stay focused. The honesty and transparency you offer as a creator is second to none.

For all those who do not want to wear the same thing every day: Put the clothes out in the evening. Then you save the energy in the morning!

That coffee shop (The Well) at 0:23 is right around the corner from me in Nashville, TN!

Noting to myself
1. Reduce the amount of decisions
Ex: reduce to-do list from 20 to 10, say no to all irrelevant projects, social gatherings.
2. Automate processes
Ex: be like Matt, wear the same shirt
/don't waste your time on choosing outfit./
3. Make most important decisions first thing in the morning
Note to myself: let's decide on the issues of my life that need to be fixed rather than pondering whether it is appropriate to like the post of my schoolmates(with whom I lost contact 7 years ago.

For me, the more that I've reduced social media from my life and stopped getting any input from the news, the more clear I feel. Great video Matt

That is why meditation is often felt like such a relief (among other things). For a time, the mind can rest from the "pulling and pushing" of decisions

What's interesting is that I've been mentally trained to make quick, snap decisions, from my time in kitchens.

It's more of the "how do we fix this right now right now" and worry about the repricusssions later.

My wife hates it.

I work as a dispatcher. Decisions are all I do. And that's true when I'm coming back home I'm not able to think straight. Two days ago my wife asked me if I preferred lego set or a coffee mug as a present because her sister didn't knew what to get me. I've crumbled, this little question at the end of the day destroyed me. Now I understand what happened more.

I believe meditation should be a practice we all do on a daily basis to have more energy and feel relaxed, totally changed my life. I gave up on it like 7 times but once I really understood what worked for me it became so powerful. I got rid of anxiety, low energy, boosted my self esteem and confidence. Wish you all an amazing 2022

Helpful tip that’s changed my life: putting a sticky note on my desk that says, “NO.” I heard it from someone on an episode of The Daily Stoic podcast. I think it was Robert Greene or Steven Pressfield.

the fact that i took five major courses this term and started waiting at least 3 working days to reply to most people... definitely decision fatigue at its worst

I’m a single mother of a disabled child, run my own household, and am a small business owner of a few businesses. Because I have to make so many decisions throughout the day that can definitely impact others, I eliminate some of my daily minor decisions. Such as: I eat the same exact thing for breakfast, I take my coffee the same exact way (black), I have the same three things to pick from at work to eat for lunch, I utilize smart devices set on a specific schedule for lights/charging/cleaning, and I often wear what looks like the same exact thing everyday (mostly fitted black monochrome clothing.) Not needing to waste time and energy thinking about minor things like these gives me more energy to focus on other more important things. It’s also very important for me to take a quick 5-7 minute break in playing a dorky Snapchat Bitmoji game to break up the monotony and give myself a laugh—which helps me refocus on tasks at hand. Sometimes, I secretly do a bunch of quick jumping jacks in the bathroom to burn up some physical energy. It’s important to energize yourself with natural-good feelings and laughter every once in awhile. 😂😊

I think Matt should write a book. I think the less decisions we make through out the day the happier we can be. I'm 20 years old and I'm happy I found you on YouTube a couple years ago because of you I have become minimalist and I'm much more happy

Living with a narcissistic parent has mentally exhausted me drained any form of happiness from my soul.

This is so interesting to me. I’ve been struggling with intense intrusive thoughts since about 2016. It’s so mentally draining and I’ve been looking for a solution for years. I’ve been trying low stress scenarios to no avail. It’s really hard to stop focusing so intensely on stupid or made up things. I love this video. I should try this method as I always end up completely exhausted.
