I wish you were my cardiologist! I never really knew much about stress tests when I had mine done. The physicians assistant ordered a nuclear stress test which I am told came back normal thus she wrote a note in my chart that "my symptoms" which were horrible arrhythmias had nothing to do with my heart. I have never been overweight, never had a high cholesterol level, never an elevated blood sugar. In the meantime I went into heart failure and was admitted through the ER of a different hospital system and I had a conduct block and had to have a pacemaker. That first cardiology office never did any blood work at all, no BNP or Troponin or anything. Why they decided to jump on the idea of doing a NUCLEAR stress test I have no idea.

Went to my Cardiologist February 21st, 2023, advised I may be having surgery coming up to repair two hernias and a gall bladder removal. Asked to have preclearance/ EKG done. I was cleared. Took two months to get a surgery date for July 14th. When the surgeon called over to get the clearance, the cardio office flagged me because I did not get the Stress Test. Note: they have their own lab and routinely run Medicare patients through. Now I can't get a lexiscan Nuclear test until July 19th, and then have to wait until August to get my hernias repaired. I also have an appointment to see the Gasrontologist on July 28th that I have been waiting 3 months to see for IBS/D that I have had since Feb. 6th. Have lost 30 lb, 2# a week.

I’m 66, my cardiologist wants me to take a stress test next year. I had a ct angiogram 3 yrs ago : “no vessel disease” calcium: Zero. I just ran a sub 60 10k .. I run 4mi/day and do CrossFit … WTF I’m also plant based and keep ldlc in low 30’s apoB in low 40’s lp(a) 6mg/dl. .. lp-pla2:60, NT-PROBNP: < 35 MPO:200. I take 10mg resu and 10mg eze … what’s he going to tell me … exercise “more” eat plants, take statins … I do all that .. and my lab measured vo2max is 50. If I ever get heart disease … I’ll be beyond p**** off.

Thank you. Are you saying that a person with stint or bypass would probably live just as long without doing anything besides meds

I have a question. I have a stent already from 2015. My doc has ordered the nuclear stress test to make sure I can have a safe knee replacement surgery. I’ve canceled the test because I’m afraid of a false positive. My husband went through it several years ago and they admitted him immediately and put a stent in. He is still mad about it. Is there another, less invasive way to clear me for surgery???
