this video helped me to have more courage when I start my photography classes next year (maybe, actually). And I want they to know who I am.

I'm so scared the teacher is gonna be transphobic, or misgemder me anyways, I'm really trying to be brave, I haven't told a single person and this is the start of my second week, but I believe in myself so I'm gonna be brave today

Hey Ryan,
Thank you for making this video. I am genderfluid and want my teachers in high school to call me Parker and not my birth name and your positive replies really ease my anxiety. I wanted to bring up something for the comments and possibly you to discuss. With my nonbinary identity I haven't asked for any particular pronouns, but at school I want to go by they/them pronouns so no assumption is made about my gender. Do you think it is okay for me to ask to go by non-traditional pronouns in a professional setting? I could very well just be freaking out about coming out to my councilor (I intend to ask them to change my name in the roster and notify my teachers of my pronouns) and not someone in my family/friend group so thank you for reading all of this. I'm interested to see what replies this could bring about.
Thanks,
Parker C.

I have one teacher I always confide in about stuff cause I can trust him and he so o supportive! He’s the first person I told when I started to realise I was trans and he helped me so much. The other day I told him my preferred name: Alyx and how my family had started calling me it and he said he’s glad people are calling me by my name! As I walked back to my desk he just screamed so loudly ‘ALYX!!!! DID YOU DO THE HOMEWORK?’ And I just started laughing and crying. I saw him at the end of the day because I wanted to thank him and when I knocked on the door and opened it he was like ‘Sup, Alyx?’ And every time he saw me during the day I was smiling so much (it was also non uniform so I wore jeans and a suit shirt and tie and felt so complete and comfortable) he was smiling back at me because he seemed glad I was happy. It was so sweet :)

Hey Ryan, nice informative video. The only thing one might add to the note is a follow-up face-to-face hello with the prof(s), and/or a picture of you on the note. Some of my courses as prof consisted of over 750 students. So although I could find a student's name (legal in your case), and add Ryan in front (for example), I would not know who you are from the others unless you came to me personally and said, hey I'm Ryan sent you a note about my gender (or something like that). But adding your picture to your note would help me recognized you faster, and remember you too (as I'm a visual learner). Just a thought. Best, Kinu

I, so nervous. I just recently found out almost half way through the school year, and now I have to tell the teachers, one who already calls me by a nickname. 😩

I go to an LGBTQ+ supportive school, but I can't stand conversations, with anybody apart from my close friends. I have social anxiety, and social experiences make me feel really awkward. I don't have enough courage to just straight up say it to my teachers.

Hi Ryan,
I was wondering what I should do if I get a negative response from a teacher. I start school (eighth grade) in the next couple months and am planning on emailing the teachers, dean, and principal. I've heard that the science teacher is a little offensive so I just want to be prepared for what I should do if I get a negative response.

I'm planning on finally coming out to my teachers, some of whom I plan on talking to in person, some of whom I'm writing notes to, depending on what I think will get across to them. I'm super scared, but this video helped
