7:02 Was the biggest and most important improvement in my cuing that I discovered. I used to feather the ball quickly, with little distance, back and forth. Then I would pull the cue back half the distance I should and immediately hit the ball. I would unintentionally hit the ball harder than necessary to make up for the lack of power I was getting from not pulling the cue back enough. It was also because of a bad habit I picked up focusing so much on going through the ball straight, that I would punch through it too hard. One day I played against a random old man at the club who pointed out that I hit the ball too hard, several times. Next solo practice session, I practiced my cuing for hours and what a difference it made. My biggest tip I learned, for anyone really struggling, is to feather the ball slowly, bringing the tip close to the hand then close to the ball. Make sure your tip is going to the same point on the cue ball every time. For the actual shot, pull the tip all the way back to the hand to the point it would fall off your hand if you went back any more. Then PAUSE. You need to pause for a second or two. Otherwise your control of the speed of the shot isn't as good. When hitting the ball, start the cue moving forwards slowly to sort of guide the cue in the right direction then accelerate. You can hit the ball so much slower than you think and get more power than just a quick tab at the cue ball, if you just use the right technique.

Really great advice and very interesting, using the minimum amount of power is a great way to see how the sidespin goes, thanks

Does no one at the top really try and play center ball and aim as such? I know many professionals allow for side and assume side on every shot - but are there any exceptions? Just curious!

Hi thank you for this I am putting an unintentional trace of right hand side so I am not consistent on long pots, recently I've decided to aim my tip of the cue to the left of the centre of the cue ball, I started potting the long straight pots! And the cue ball come back straight to the tip of the cue when I went over the spots! How can I make sure I see the middle of the cue ball ( did I explain it well) are my eyes playing tricks on me? I appreciate your feed back

Great video, have you thought about doing a video on the difference between a brass ferule and a titanium ferrule? My understanding is there is less throw or side movement with the titanium ferrules. It would be great to see it in action with you.
