Stephen demonstrates a simple trick that snooker players use to work out the angle to pot the balls straight into the pocket. Do you use this method?

Beginners might need the crucial extra bit of info here though...that you are not aiming directly for that potting point on an angled shot. The potting point is where the cueball needs to make contact with the object ball, and that contact point will be somewhere on the edge of the cueball depending on how big the angle is. You can use the potting point to visualise where the cueball must end up on contact with the object ball, and you aim directly for that "ghost ball". Or you can just practice getting used to aiming the edge of the cueball to the contact/potting point.

Big up Stephen Hendry staying involved and passing his knowledge on to players like me who want to better their game. Would love to see him qualify for the WC once more

Hi Steve, you should do a follow up video on how to play these shots with left and right hand side.
Love the content

IMO Hendry is the GOAT. I love O'Sullivan and Davis, but Hendry is the greatest. Didn't have a weakness

I often do this and so do most players when angles are thinner than half ball. Anything from full ball, 3/4 to half ball you can generally see stood behind it.

I tend to look at the potting angle to miss thick, return to the line of aim behind the cue ball and then check the angle to miss it thin. Once I’ve committed those to memory I’ll line up to an aim point somewhere in between…..this means it takes me about 2 minutes a shot so nobody will play me any more 😂

Hi stephen, is there any way to work on trivial things ? Lik getting down the shot on the correct ligne ? I allways get of ligne and when im down i move the cue to the ligne and try to keep it there but this is hard to do every time, i get distracted easly, the presur get to me after 30 or 40 point

Yes that how i aim my shot, but it really depends on how you set your stands and how you set straight on your stroke. All the 3 things are matters and need to be meet on right conditions

What do you actually aim at the potting point though? The centre of the cue ball or the corresponding point on the cue ball?

Try to imagine a ball directly behind the object ball, a ghost ball if you like.
Aim to hit that ghost ball full on.

ProPots All-In-One Snooker Practice Aid, explains what Stephen Hendry is talking about because it is a great guide to show the player how thick or thin the shot is from anywhere on the table.

Do not be fooled people, I been playing 34 years and still no century and I'm 51 now so I think 93 is going to be my highlight of my career.
Snooker is a hard game but so enjoyable.
When I see professional players make it look so easy, it is a pleasure to see, especially hendry, s Davis and the rocket

Do a video on SightRight stance and how you think it has helped your game, by stepping into the shot side on, after lining the shot up with the centre of your body. It doesn’t make sense to me and goes against the textbook principle of walking in with your leading foot already on the line of aim along with the head coming down on that line like an elevator simultaneously over the right foot for a righty. Interesting concept but does sight-right actually work or is it a gimmicky quick fix?

If you do any shot recreations anytime in the future Stephen I would like to see the knuckle duster shot when potting the pink to get onto the black, where you don’t quite have to angle to come in and out of baulk but using the bump of the middle pocket instead.

I get the potting point first then shift it a cm to the further side to compensate for the fact that "the ball makes contact before that point". reason being that point is incorrect, you should aim for atleast half of the cue ball, wich means if you find the potting point you should plus half the cue ball size to compensate for the center of the ghost ball, coz that point is not true you are actually aiming fuller, coz when shoot for that point you hitting the ball fuller, "balls are round" - aim half the cue ball size thinner from the potting point.💪

For 8 ball I try to memorize where that spot is relative to how close it is to the number on the ball
