Also remember that the object ball will roll in the direction of the cut. So if you try this aiming to the center of the pocket, you will likely miss to the left

i am a beginner and have been playing for awhile, i play it by looking at the contact point of the object ball im hitting, and i don't understand how imagining a ghost ball infront of the object ball would help me get it to the direction i want it to?

It works fine in short distance . If Cue ball is little far how to make it happen ?

If a table and it's overhead light(s) have been set up correctly you can use the reflection of lights too.

It works for some shots. But its more to it. The more angle. The ghost ball. Helps. But yoy need to use more or less speed

Ghost ball is not correct when you hit any shot thinner than half ball, so dont use ghost ball technique and you will hit the near jaw more.frequently.than not. You will never get consistent that way.

Trust me.. i am a 50+ player . Dont trust me? Look at any WPBSA coach on youtube. Ghost ball is just a rough aid for beginners.

The ghost ball is just right behind the ball yiu want to hit. I know it must make a difference but not sure how. I go to to hit the object ball as if it was the cue ball going into the pocket. I would get it in the pocket every time. I then try and hit the object ball in that spot.
Not sure what the difference is. I'm pretty bad at pool so don't listen to me. I'm here to become less shit

For beginners, this method works well in some of the situation when the distance between CB and OB is medium or short.


Honestly, what I really do while taking the shot is just looking at the desired OB, CB and pocket and create shot line. if this line makes me feel and say "Hmm well, that looks good enough" when I get down for the shot with confidence somehow the OB travels from any distance to the heart of pocket as the way I wanted to😂😂😂

95% of the main reasons you missing a pot due to 2 factors. Either wrong sighting/aiming or not delivering cue straight. Another 5% due to kick.

5% kick can be eliminated with helping side. Most pros do not strike the center of the CB except for straight pot.

Aiming/Sighting skills comes with ability to spot cut required the fastest and simplest way. Pros only look at OB, then Pocket to give the idea of the cut then aligning the cut on CB. Priority is always on OB first followed by CB. There are many aiming techniques but best is to always keep and stick with one that yield highest consistency and you should be able to feel a cut could be missing by thick or thin when you are down to your shot. Important to note this feeling feedback helps you to build consistency. For training, if you feel it gonna miss thick, deliver the shot and verify your feeling. For game, like pros did, stand up and start again.
