MASTER YOUR CUT SHOTS WITH THIS TECHNIQUE! (Shaft Aiming).

How to master your sets with the shaft aiming technique. Shane Van Boening is known for making incredible cut shots and came up with a technique to CUT his pool shaft into 5 different areas to use as an aiming point for cut shots. I, as an amateur, only use thirds. Yes you will miss shots every once in a while do to human error, but this way of cutting the object balls is as fill proof as it gets in my opinion.

The 3rd shot in the beginning was nuts. Walked down the whole rail past the middle pocket

Yep have a dang hard time shooting off the rail. Thanks for the tip. 👍👍

When it’s frozen to the rail I always say ‘aim to hit the “wall and the ball” at the same time’. Aside from making position play this always works

All that being said I'll give it a try.

I wasn't terrible @ it to begin with, but this video makes what I was already doing make sense. I dunno if I'm still doing wrong, but it don't stick to the rail every single time. Still a good video.

Great video.
There are a ton of times when you will need some low outside (low right in this case) english. That is a great shot to master too. Once you have it, it seems to come up a lot.
Spin it baby!

It works most times for me Didn’t even realize I was using this technique 😆

I really like the different cut shot principles. I wonder why this even works. What's the geometric proof that explains these alarmingly consistent results?

Nice to know! Is using slight inside just as good or no?

Was taughtthis when I was just beginning to learn the finer points of billiards as well as English on cue ball and the diamond system had a full size pool table in family room and the family played for hours

Ok but do you change the force you use? Like depending on how long of a shot you’re attempting?

Opposite side to the rail your playing also has the same effect

Is your tip move a parallel shift or a backhand pivot?

SIR am i right that the LEFT edge of the Ferrule is at the center of the cue ball meaning you are applying 1 tip outside english. Also the left edge of the ferrule is pointing at the midpoint of the OB contact point and rail. Thank you

Doesbit work with all the angles the white ball is in?

I'm not sure this matters, spin induced throw has been seen to be an almost negligible effect however playing tough balls with side will always make them harder as you have to account for squirt etc. Perhaps this works because you otherwise have a tendency to hit the ball too thick or too thin and this corrects for your vision. If you truly are aiming at the right point on the ball, you should be able to play this with no spin whatsoever.

With a clean cue ball and a steady stroke that small bit of outside English throws the ball into the pocket.

This only works if you just have to make the ball, but most cases we need to either put left or right spin to get position on the next ball and in that case you will miss the ball

So what you’re doing is putting a tiny bit of right English on the cue ball which imparts left spin on the object ball which is why it’ll hug the rail?
