We had a rottie, called her our door dog, intimidating when you see her at the door. She was secretly the biggest marshmallow of love. She served and protected our family for 12 years. I was blessed to have shared her life.

I had the best guard dog ever. I did not train her, I rescued her. she was an English mastiff and her opinions of everyone were always spot on.
also, anytime I had a strange man in the house (to do work or even new friends) she put herself at all times between me and the "stranger".

My family had a Great Dane and a chihuahua. They where the perfect intimidation duo. Because the Dane was chill af, the chihuahua was always the one on high alert 😂 and she barked rather loud, and our Dane would always go investigate with her 😢 miss them

Growing up I had a Newfoundland, she was wonderful. When my parents were gone she went into protection mode. She would lay down at the door until my parents got home and wouldn't even let people in that we knew. It has been almost 25years since she has passed and I still miss her very much.

This guy is hands down the most down to earth canine trainer ive ever seen on YouTube (or ever really). Absolutely solid advice to the point and very elaborate.
10/10.

I paid $5000.00 for a guard dog for my business at night. I drove 15 hrs to Miami for this dog. A mastiff. He only guarded the food bowl. I kept him for my granddaughter. I went to the local animal shelter and told them I wanted a dog to guard my business. I adopted a mix breed mutt. No break-ins in over a year! I did find a pair of shorts on the top of the fence! LoL 😂 bust dog I even had! He stays inside the business during the day and greets all my customers!! Everyone loves Ivan the terrible! LoL. But when we lock up and the lights go off. He is hell!!!

Rottweiler, hands down. Great family pet and very trainable. It just takes one deep chested bark to scare off most bad guys. Had one. She was a sweetheart but was also 160 lbs of pure intimidation factor.

I bought a small dog schnoodle. Someone questioned me "That dog can't protect you." I said it's 2022, the dog is the alarm. Buckshot is the protection for both of us. "Touche" he replied.

Our English Mastiff is an absolute sweetheart. She is so gentle with little ones and very weary of new people. We never trained her to guard, and she naturally just does it. Highly recommend mastiffs! The drool is a small price to pay and you can train them to dab a towel after water and that keeps it way down.

Can confirm a mastiff barking one time or even staring at someone for too long is an effective deterrent.

Newfie: "I'll suffocate you with my floof!!! >:3" and actually can do that.

Great Dane: That one big scary kid in school no one ever seen fighting but everyone is to scared to start shit with.

English Mastiff: The nice big kid in School who once messed up the bully in the hallway for stealing lunch money.

As an English Mastiff owner I can confirm everything you said. Amazing dogs! Super smart, loyal, gentle with kids, and amazing guardians. Just the perfect guard dogs.

Me and my wife had a St. Bernard x with a German shepherd he was 160 pounds of suck and shed like 3 huskies but was the best guard dog and friend I have ever had. I honestly have never cried as much as when he passed two years ago. We now have a one year old female newfi and she is starting to be more protective of the house and yard.

I have a cane corso and he definitely takes guarding our home to heart, I have to announce my self when ever opening the fence gate. He also is the most needy and loving beast you could ever see

Danes don’t mess around. I remember coming home from work one day when we were dogsitting one one time, and one of my wife’s friends had been over with her small child. I had just walked in the house, I don’t know why or how long but it was just the dog and the kid in the main room at the moment and this dog that wasn’t expecting anybody lunged in between me and the kid when she heard me and just started barking as loud as she could. It had me on the backfoot in my own house 😂. She calmed down after I said her name and she got a sniff of me, but wow.

The only thing I don’t like about Danes is how short their lives are.

Chihuahua's make the best alert dogs. Our Chihuahua would alert the rottie and he would go see what was amiss. Miss my little Tinkerbell so much. I'm sure Chevy passed after her shortly because he was heart broken that his little girl was gone.
