We have a 100 pound German Shepherd and he’s the best! He’s very protective and loyal, but with us he’s such a big baby!🇺🇸🌻🌷❤️⛰

To note: No guard dog is a 'great' dog for first time owners. This is due to their generally unforgiving nature when it comes to training. Your mistakes will stick with the dog in some way shape or form whether its them realizing they can take advantage of you or the dog thinking you want one thing when you want another. While these are all great guard dogs, if you are a first time owner of any guard dog breed, even if its just your first guard dog not your first dog ever, getting a pro trainer to help you is nothing short of a great idea.

I have a 13 week old female Rottweiler, She's the same size as a male. She loves people more than anything but has shown signs of standing talk when she hear helping or a kid crying when we old out. Her paws are the same size as a 3 yr old female pitbull we met, so she's showing signs of being a biggn. She is gentle and Definitely has a attitude at times. She take commands from hand signals no verbal command after showing her once or twice which is amazing. She literally understands much more than ppl would think. Only issue she truly has is or was chewing or biting(nimbling) but it got out of hand fast so it's beenweeks that we've been working with her on that. If she would up she'll instantly put her head on the floor and look up to see my reaction so she's very smart and reactive to everything. Truly the best rottie I could have asked for!

I love Doberman & German Shepherds because they’re both intelligent, protective and loyal. I mostly like GSDs

First pet was a Doberman who was a retired police dog. She was intensely protective of us . We then had a Boxer who was part of our family for 12 years. RIP Mimi. Our current baby boy is Chester the Alsatian. He is the light my daughters life. He also serves as a therapy dog.

Hi, I'm afraid of dogs but I really love them so is a Maltese a good match for me?

My last dog was half German shepherd and half Doberman. He was the best dog ever! But definitely NOT for first-time owners; not either half, and definitely not the mix. First-timers are better off with a cocker spaniel or another smaller dog - without going tiny. My second dog, way back when, was a beagle, which are almost as stubborn as I am, which made for some interesting tug-of-wills. I will agree that pits are lovable, agreeable, friendly, and devoted; they are not, however, suited for a first dog, simply because they are extremely strong for their size. Pits are the Mr. Universe of the dog world, I think. Unless you're talking about Rotties, which I would also caution against for a first dog. I've been owned by dogs for most of my life. I will say that, in my experience, the best way to choose a dog is to let the dog choose. Pick a breed, or maybe two, and wait for the pooch to come climb into your lap. No touch, no talk, no eye contact; let the dog make the first move, and when he does, you're his for life.

you probably shouldn’t get a kangal lol unless you’re very experienced

I dogsat a cavalier for 7 months and my dog bonded strongly with her, after she left I’ve noticed that my dog seems quite depressed. I’m currently waiting on a GSD litter from a good breeder and will hopefully bring a puppy home so my dog won’t be lonely. Because of her age she can’t exercise as much so I’m excited to get a dog that can keep up ☺️

The title of the video is misleading... There's no way on God's green earth that kangal would be good for first time owners...

Thanks for making this video. I'm a new time owner looking for a guard dog. I want to get a Rottweiler, which is obviously on your list. I did some research on the breed, and I'm getting it.

Thanks for this video! I currently own a German shepherd who is a retired police dog, love him to bits, big baby as well lol. I have a huge soft spot of guard dogs in my heart and I want to spread my interest to see what other guard dogs might fit me, I’m thinking a Rottweiler or a Dobie!
