Whenever a recruiter or someone in the company says "meet" during the hiring process, it's always an interview. ALWAYS.

These employers and HR people play too many games with candidates. No wonder they can't get people onboard.

My offer was revoked even after I signed the offer!!!! Worst experience ever and extremely unprofessional hiring process. Will never apply for any jobs in that organization again. One thing I learnt - you offer is never finalized until you sit in the office at the first day of your job.

This video is a reminder that if the VP of the company cannot see the value of you when you’re being your authentic self, they don’t deserve you. Be thankful you didn’t get that job. 🤙

Oof. I had a job offer rescinded a couple years ago - after signing the offer. Also got passed over after a 10 hr interview process & informal job offer. Definite gut punches, but also clear signs that companies like that are never worth your time. Rescindments are grossly unprofessional & expose a hyper-toxic, disorganized company.

These nightmare interview situations make me want to start my own company! It’s so exhausting the hoops you have to jump through!

This just shows me that interviews are not the best way to choose someone. You put up a performance for the interview that may not necessarily show up during the job itself.

I had an offer rescinded several months ago. Employer made offer with a very low salary so I attempted to negotiate a higher salary. Big mistake- apparently this was not negotiable. After being ghosted, I finally reached the employer only to find that the offered the position to another candidate. But all is well that ends well- I received an offer I really wanted from one of their competitors!

This LITERALLY just happened to me a few weeks ago. With a very famous company. I went through 7 interviews and they all loved me. The recruiter reached out and said that they wanted me to meet with the Senior Manager of the department just so he could meet with me and not to expect an interview but more of a conversation since I had gone through the interview process. It was an actual interview (but I was prepared!). He was intimidating but the interview went very well and he told me I would be hearing back soon from the recruiter with next steps. Yes, I waited over a week and received a generic thank you but we went with someone else email. I reached out but they ghosted me. No idea what happened and I guess I will never find out. These were the best interviews that I have ever done thanks to your channel! I did get an offer from another company so it is not an issue but man, I felt so upset when that happened!

This is very unprofessional on that company. If this was was an interview they should have said so instead of acting like you had the offer. I see this as them playing games and you dodged a bullet

Happened to me as well before. I nailed the interview since all 4 people complimented me on my knowledge and experience. I was told to meet with the VP at the last stage. I was dressed up business style and the same thing, I didn't hear a peep for 4 days and got the email (not even a freaking phone call) telling me that they went with another candidate but i have great skill, it was a tough choice bla bla bla. I was very bummed but sent a gracious email as you did. Fast forward 14 months later, the same recruiter calls me and tells me the same thing your recruiter told you (i kinda call BS on that though in my head). I had already found a better job so I declined politely but said exactly what you said: "I will check my network and surely pass this around". The person they hired ended up going back to his previous company with a bigger pay and title. Things happen for a reason and I am a believer in that.

Truthfully, you never “have” the job because you can be fired without reason.

Here's the problem they LIED about you just meeting them when it was in fact an interview. That's a red flag about a BAD hiring team and company and they lose someone good over non-sense.

Honestly, the meet and greet you were invited to sounds more like a bait and switch for a hardcore interview/interrogation. I think recruiters or hiring managers giving you more transparent and precise communication about what to expect from that interaction would have been helpful. Most younger professionals who received the information you did would have assumed a coffee meeting type of casualness, too.

Same thing happened to me for the first time in my career a couple months ago. I was pissed and confused but I just started a new position..more money and flexibility, huge company. I was going to chase down the why but God had something much better in store so I believe that is why..there was something greater.

Happened to me! I got an official offer letter! I sent them a reply thanking them and asking some questions about the offer—basic questions. A week and a half later the COO of the company retracted the job offer. I have zero clue what happened. Appreciate your video and your encouragement/optimism! It’s helpful in this slog of job searching.

The recruiter was dishonest in telling you that you had the job when you did not. Yes, I've had this happen. I even had an offer letter in hand and had resigned from my current job. I got to learn about "at will employment." A marvelous lesson.

They should have hired you! Candidates get disqualified for the most superficial reasons. That VP lady should have been in your initial interview in the first place. Just saying 🤷🏽‍♀️

You don’t EVER “have” the job. They can fire you at will, just as soon as your butt hits the chair.
That’s why I’m an entrepreneur.
I succeed. I fail. It’s all on me with none of their whims.
