This module is a latching ignition shutoff switch.
It sits between the magneto ignition module shut off wire (black wire) and the low oil level switch (yellow wire), connecting to ground through the mounting screw.

When the low oil level switch makes initial contact, this module uses the current flowing to switch on and redirect most of the current through its metal case to ground.

This module is used for low oil level switches that can't handle the full ignition module current or are likely to make poor, intermittent contact when the oil level is at the threshold.

Many people guess that it's simply an SCR/thyristor, but it's more complicated than that. A SCR requires continuous current through it to remain conductive. The ignition module only puts out pulses. The module is a circuit that initially charges a capacitor through a diode when the oil level switch makes contact, then slowly discharges that capacitor into the gate of an SCR. Typical values are a 10uF capacitor and 47 Kohm resistor. Several additional small capacitors are in the circuit to delay the SCR turn-on slightly and decouple noise to avoid dV/dT triggering of the SCR.

This low pressure alarm doesnt make noise.. if you bypass this the only noise you will heaar is when the rod berearings or the crank rod bearings burn out and goes CLUNK! .. This should be called a motor saftey cut off switch assembly to protect the engine parts from damage due to lack of oil. However if your engine is using oil and or it is used commercially then this is a good idea, homeowners if they got any sense would check thier oil everytimee they use it..But then a gain....
thanks for the video i was stumped at the wiring set up on this paticular machine.

Does my Honda push mower have one of these? I don’t recall seeing it. I was just wondering because I’m having trouble starting it lately, it won’t start until I lean it over to the side first before starting it on level ground . I’ve tried replacing the carburetor, fuel filter, new oil, air filter and spark plug, but it won’t start unless I tilt it first and then level it back to start? Any ideas? Thanks

I just replaced the engine on my old 2-speed Troy built rototiller with a Honda. It runs fine on the level but quits when I till because the tiller tills on a slant. Can I bypass, or disconnect the low oil sensor and can I do it without hurting the engine?  Bryan

My GX 390 doesn't not have a low oil alert box, only a low oil sensor. My low oil sensor has malfunctioned after 10 minutes on the machine. How do you change the sensor?

I always thought it was an over temperature sensor.

Gee, thanks for showing how to do the part of the job that a child could do just by looking at it -_-
