This is a common issue for the F150s. The fuel door will not stay closed. It is an easy fix and you do not need to buy anything.

Thanks to my brother in law for being the cameraman!

Very well done. Mine just stopped closing. Thought it would be a complete replacement. Thanks.

If I can add a comment. You saved me tons of time in locating the problem. If YT will let me add a Pic a 1/16 cotter pin is a better fix than a screw. Drill hole across shaft and insert pin

Hi, I'm Steven as well! Your video definitely helped me fix my loose gas cap! I mean I'm a mechanic, I restore old motorcycles, but I've never had to deal with the gas cap on my F150, and your tutorial showed me exactly how to do it. Thanks, and go ahead and take the rest of the day off!!

This works 100%. Easy as can be. Took less than 10 minutes. I used a 1/8" drill bit and put a short rivet wit a washer on it. Thank you very much.

This happened to me yesterday when pumping gas. Thanks for the to-the-point video, looks like a pretty quick fix.

Mine broke yesterday and fixed today thanks to your video. Note - That stubby end of the plastic pin can be very twisty. Care needs to be taken that you have a small enough screw and properly bored the pilot hole for it or I suspect one might end up ordering the new part from Ford or visiting a pull-a-part.

Thank you for this video! I repaired mine in less than five minutes. I would’ve bought a new part if it wasn’t for your video so you saved me time and money. Thank you.

Works like a charm. 15 minutes and I was done. Hardest thing about it was getting the assembly unseated from the truck.

Thanks for this! I picked up a free "Virginia is for <heart>" bumper sticker at the welcome center rest stop, and have been using it to hold the dang fuel door closed for close to a year now! Of course, as soon as I got the assembly out, the spring fell off and of course I didn't note its configuration before it did. I wasn't sure how it went back on. By freeze-framing your video I figured it out; but a direct shot of that would have been helpful. Minor complaint; thanks for putting this out there!

Thanks for this! Worked great for my 2012. Something to possibly help others when removing...lying on your back while under the truck, you can see 2 of the clips holding it in and can disengage them with a flat-head screwdriver. This eliminated me from having to pry it out.
